The assault is against Republicans like you and me, brought by the “tolerant left” that has proven to be anything but tolerant. Yes, they are tolerant, but only if we Republicans are willing to give up our Constitution, our Bibles, our guns, our definition of marriage, and every other value to which we cling.

There is a war raging in America. At stake is just about everything we as conservatives believe. And just what do we believe?

We believe that the best government is the smallest government possible. Government’s job is to protect our borders, enforce our laws, and get out of our way. Government has no place in our healthcare, our conversations, or our places of worship. Government should fear the people, but we the people should not fear our government! We believe that government has infringed upon too many of our individual liberties. As our freedoms get smaller and weaker, our government grows bigger and more powerful. It is time to take back our rights to bear arms, speak freely, and worship without fear.

We believe that your money belongs in your pocket, not in the government’s bank account. Low taxes are essential to a healthy economy and strong job market. We support the principle that government should spend less so that the private sector can spend more!

We believe you have the right to live in a safe place where police are respected and crime is rare because laws are enforced. We believe you have the right to protect your family and your property. Your right to keep and bear arms is an inherent part of your ability to do that.

This is what we believe, and this is what is at stake in the ideological war for the future of America. Unfortunately for us here in Brazoria County, the battle is not being waged in a distant state. No, the battle has come to our home. Emboldened by victories in Texas—Dallas County fell first, then Harris County was overtaken by the blue wave, losing all countywide offices—and bolstered by liberal money from George Soros and others, the Democrats smell blood in the water and believe they can turn the entire state, county by county. Now the bullseye is on Brazoria County. The 22nd Congressional District would be a big trophy for the Democrats and they will stop at nothing to bag it. But it would not stop there; if they succeed, the ripple effect down the ballot would be devastating.

We can’t let it come to that. There is plenty that we can all do to stand our ground and fight.

Your Brazoria County Republican Party has a comprehensive plan to keep Brazoria Red, and here’s a good place for you to start:

• Before going to vote in the primary on March 3, research the candidates to select the strongest competitor and the one who shares our values. This will be the candidate with the best chance to win in November.

• Vote in the primary. Voting in the primary won’t directly defeat a single Democrat in November, but it sends a message now that we are strong, that we are energized, and that there are more of us than they think there are. If we are strong, it might just give them pause before dumping resources into attempting to defeat Republicans in November.

• Educate others about the November election and our candidates—share with your friends in small gatherings and on social media.
