Dominance in
the sand
Brazilian beach volleyball is on the most traditional of the world.
In the first international challenges of the sport, which were
played in the famous Ipanema Beach in the 80’s, Brazilian and
American played amazing duels for the world’s sands
dominance.
The result of the equilibrium was clear in the first edition of the
Olympic Games that had Beach Volleyball in the program as in
Atlanta/1996 Brazil won the gold medal of the female
tournament while American men won the male competition.
In the 90’s, Brazil took the international lead, figuring constantly
in the highest spot of the podium in the World Tour. In 20 years
of the double gender competition, Brazil won it 26 times – 13
with male teams and 13 with female pairs.
The way to the international success is in the country’s sands.
Played since 1991, Banco do Brasil´s Tour is the strongest
national championship of the world and reunites Brazilian top
teams, as well as some foreign pairs, in tournaments that
happen s in several states of the country.
Looking forward to develop new talents, CBV promotes annually
the U-21 Banco do Brasil Tour and the States Banco do Brasil
Tour, tournament created in 2009 and that is held in each of the
27 states of the country, assuring opportunities for all athletes in
the country.

The Aryzão:
A Structural Framework
In October 10th of 2001, CBV started a
unique idea in the volleyball world. The
project of the Brazilian Volleyball
Development Center (the Aryzao), in
Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro, had the support
of the National Government, the Sports
Minister and the Saquarema City Hall. In
August 25th of 2003 the dream came true
and the Aryzao received for the first time all
Brazilian indoor national teams in its
108,000 m2 area.
The main objective of the complex is
concentrating all structures and equipments
needed to the team’s practices, with a view
to training, development and retraining of
human resources. The Aryzao also aims to
optimizing the training program of Brazilian
national teams in all categories, promoting
a good integration between technical staffs
and allowing interaction between their
planning.
The project also offers services to the public
through social actions in its dependencies,
besides of promoting training and retraining
courses for referees, coaches, managers and
sports’ professionals. Scientific researches
are also realized in the site, as well as
seminars.
A unique initiative of CBV, which has led the
Brazilian team to great achievements. Since
the inauguration, the Aryzao has already
