The portfolio covers a variety of incredible beach houses in some of the most beautiful destinations along the Brazilian coast, as well as apartments and penthouses in Rio. Prices range from around US$550 - US$10,000 per night.

As wonderful as the houses are, what sets BBH apart is the quality of the in-house service we are able to guarantee after 15 years of experience in arranging private travel in Brazil and our ability to eradicate many of the frustrations and difficulties that occur when renting houses.

The prices given in this brochure include the essential minimum of in-house service (daily maid service and an English speaking concierge at hand: please see individual house brochures for what, exactly, is included with each property), but what we specialise in is raising the level of in-

house service to effectively create the infrastructure of a private hotel.

TRANCOSO; the Quadrado and beaches

TRANCOSO, BAHIA

Trancoso, Bahia in the Brazilian North-east is the hippest beach destination in South America. The village is set on a bluff overlooking perfect palm-fringed beaches and colourful former slave houses cluster around a large grassy main square known as the Quadrado. In the evening everyone heads to the Quadrado to sip caipirinhas and browse in the antique shops, boutiques and local stalls which include many of the chicest Brazilian designers. The atmosphere is relaxed - the very antithesis of Europe’s glitziest resorts – and flip-flops, open shirts and kaftans are the order of the day. This laid-back vibe is attracting many of the biggest stars of modern Brazil and further a-field who value their privacy as much as their need to kick back and have fun. Note: Trancoso is the most fashionable destination in Brazil at New Year and this is reflected in the shortage and high price of good accommodation at this time. CASA DAS BRISAS

Located right at the beach in hip Trancoso, this house is everything a beach house needs to be: simple, unpretentious and light. The elevated deck guarantees a constant breeze during the day and during the night it is very private. The house has 2 bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin bedroom), an open integrated interior composed of a living room, an open-plan kitchen and a lounger with garden views. Hammocks are slung on the deck in front and behind the house and a wooden gate leads to the beach and the sea.

The lovely 2 bedroom house is 2km from the centre of Trancoso and just 2 minutes walk from the beach on a private path. The well known Estrela d Agua Hotel is a short walk along the beach and the gold and tennis facilities of Terravista are only a short drive away. Accommodation consists of two air conditioned suites for a total of four guests.

All rooms with ocean beach views and there are extensive views from the 70 sq.m wooden deck with sofas and deck chairs and Roof Terrace (90 sq.m) with table and sofas for 12 people.

This region is still a relatively well kept secret which offers visitors some of the best and most unspoilt beaches in the North-east and an appealingly authentic take on Bahia.

The properties we offer here are some of the most remote in our portfolio, but there is no where better to disconnect from the stresses of the modern world, lie back in a hammock or beach-comb along miles of virgin sand leaving fresh footprints all the way.

The best time to visit is from October to May, although the months of July and August are proving to be increasingly popular and have a lot to recommend them if you don't mind the odd shower.

As with the other properties in our portfolio all of these houses have daily maid service and breakfast prepared for you. We take care of the logistics of getting guests to each house, pre-stocking houses with groceries prior to clients' arrival and even the services of an English speaking concierge to help new-comers make the best of each destination.

CASA CARAIVA

For wannabe hippies, beach-combers and those looking to get away from it all, this is the perfect retreat. Set right on the sand in the incredibly beautiful village of Caraiva, about an hour from Trancoso on sandy roads. The beach was recently voted the the Guardian as one of the 10 best, least-known beaches in Brazil and we hope that it stays that way. The village is reached by taking a small skiff across the Caraiva River from where the road ends and there is no motorised transport in the village. Beaches hem in the house front and back. The house is recently completed and while simple it is equipped with everything the well-heeled beach bum while require.

Paraty is a lovely 17th century town that has been well preserved thanks to a long period of isolation, with access only by sea as late as the mid 'Seventies.!Paraty was declared a National Historical Monument in 1966, safeguarding its preservation.! The winding, narrow streets paved with giant cobble stones, were designed to protect the town from pirate raids.! Small fishermen’s cottages and vast merchants mansions stand side by side, all white stucco with brightly coloured shutters and doors. Vehicles are! banned from the old town, and the wealth of art galleries, shops and restaurants are explored on foot.!!

In addition to a selection of incredible properties in the old town and nearby, we have developed a highly effective team of local cooks, guides, concierges and drivers who will make all the difference to a trip to this part of the Brazilian Coast.

CASA SAMUEL COSTA

A very stylish colonial house in the heart of Paraty's Centro Historico that has been decorted and restored to the standard of a Five Star Hotel. The location gives unsupassed access to the life in the old town; the little cafes and bars, good seafood restaurants, shady squares and cobbled streets that lead to the old port where boats wait to take visitors to the islands and desserted beaches that dot the Bay of Paraty.

There are a total of three suites, two on the ground floor (one twin, one double) and a double mastersuite on the first floor that overlooks the open plan sitting room. BUZIOS

!Situated less than 125 miles from Rio on good roads, Armaçaõ de Búzios is where wealthy cariocas head at the weekends and for the summer.! Formerly a small rustic fishing community, Búzios was first discovered in the 60’s, by cariocas looking for a place to escape from the bustle of the city and shortly afterwards it was put firmly on the map when Brigitte Bardot was photographed there on holiday.! Despite increasing popularity and rapid growth over the last 15 years, the area has retained its charm by strictly controlling development and allowing only low-rise construction.

There are 23 different beaches on the peninsula, some hardly visited even at the busiest times of the year and they are best explored either by renting a beach buggy or from one of the schooners that tour the bays during the day.! Diving, sailing, riding and golf can be arranged locally.! The old centre, especially along the cobbled Rua das Pedras which runs along the shore, boasts some of Brazil’s best and most charming restaurants and bars and chic shopping.

Best time of year: Year round, but the water is cold for swimming in the European summer, up to the end of September. Good year round surfing, kite-surfing and sailing.

BUZIOS

VILLA CANTO

Situated on Praia do Canto, one of the most private beaches in Buzios, only used by the few who have houses there. While the area and the beach are very quiet, the house is only a short walk from the Rua das Pedras where the majority of the best bars, restaurants are shops are to be found. The house has 5 double bedrooms (all with private bathrooms) and six bathrooms; the two main bedrooms are on the first floor of the main building and have balconies with sea-views while the other rooms are in a separate (but adjoining) construction on the ground floor. The property has 40 meters of beachfront, a secluded swimming pool is built in what would be the courtyard (on the far side of the house from the beach) and there is plenty of space for eating outdoors facing the beach or pool. IPANEMA LAGOA

A beautifully decorated 3 bedroom apartment with a wide roof terrace and great views over the lagoon and the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue. The chicest postos of Ipanema are a few blocks walk away making this a hip and quiet location for those who prefer to be based in Ipanema. The apartment has been completely refurbished and the bedrooms, sitting and dinning rooms and the terrace all all bright, clean spaces enhanced with contemporary furniture and a fresh eye to design that will please those who enjoy a bit of extra glamour. *For all bookings, the deposit is non-refundable. 6/ CHANGES TO THE PROPERTYIn the unlikely event that it is necessary for the company to make an alteration to or cancel a booking after confirmation, we will inform you as soon as possible and, if requested, we will try to arrange a similar type and standard of accommodation in the same location as that originally requested. If the alternative offered is not accepted the company will refund all!monies paid in full and shall be under to further liability.

7/ WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE RATESAll houses are fully staffed (see property notes for the specific staffing of each property) and come with the services of an English speaking concierge as outlined for each property. We recommend all rental properties are pre-stocked with basic household products, drinks and snacks prior to guests' arrival for which there is a fee of US$150 + groceries (Min US$300). This service must be paid in advance at the time the balance falls due.

8 YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES You must keep the holiday accommodation and all furniture, fittings, effects, facilities and equipment in the same state of repair and condition as at the commencement of the holiday, and leave the holiday accommodation in the same state of cleanliness and general order in which it was found. You are responsible for all damage or loss which occurs to the property or its contents during your occupation, and will be responsible to paying appropriate compensation to the Property Owner direct or to us as agent in the event of breakages or damage.

8/ LIABILITYa/ Neither we (as agent for the property owner) nor the property owner shall be responsible for the death or personal injury to any person staying or visiting any property offered by BBBHC, unless this results in the proven negligence of the owner, ourselves or our employees.b/ Any personal property is left entirely at the guests' own risk and BBHC assumes no responsibility for their loss or any other security related incident whatsoever.!
