Historical city tour of Salvador - This city has changed throughout the ages to become the
Salvador of today. Starting out along the bay, the tour then works its way through Salvador’s
tree-lined streets up to Pelourinho, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its
spectacular and well-preserved colonial architecture. Walking tour from our hotel will give
visitors the opportunity to fully appreciate the splendid buildings that take us back in time to the
beginnings of this vibrant city. Along the way, we will stop off at the São Francisco Church, with
its extravagant gold leaf baroque designs, from where we will continue our tour, heading towards
the Largo do Pelourinho, at the heart of the neighborhood

Afternoon, Capoeira workshop – Capoeira was brought to Brazil with Africa slaves and was
incorporate into our culture. Initially it was forbidden, since it is a fight. Then, it became widely
preformed as a form of cultural expression. Professional teachers will give us the basic steps of
this unique and fascinating fight/dance.

Full day tour of Salvador. The Lower City tour offers another perspective of the sprawling city,
taking us to the quiet waters of the Itapagipe Peninsula where life moves at a slower pace than
the bustling upper city. Fishermen fish from dugout canoes, locals collect shellfish at low tide,
schooners lie at anchor, all protected by the famous Bonfim church, one of the most important
churches of pilgrimage in Brazil and deeply influenced by the Candomblé beliefs. We continue
to the Monserrat district with its panoramic view of the city and then on to the Mercado Modelo,
a thriving market for local goods and souvenirs. In the afternoon, we will visit a Synagogue in
Salvador – Sociedade Israelita da Bahia and meet local leaders.

The Bahia Folklore Company is one of the most respected folklore dance troupes in the world.
The company performs in the intimate Miguel Santana Theatre in the Pelourinho in a stunning
presentation of the multiple African traditions that heavily influence the Bahian culture. We will
see the sacred dances of the Candomblé; puxada de rede, a song by fishermen in honor of
Yemanjá, the goddess of the sea; maculelê, an acrobatic stick and sword dance with its origins in
the cane fields; capoeira, a martial art/dance of Angolan origin and the samba de roda, a
spinning, swirling version of this exuberant national dance

Departure transfer to the airport for flight to Rio de Janeiro. Upon arrival, into orientation city
tour of Rio de Janeiro. You will have the chance to explore downtown Rio de Janeiro, the city´s
colonial and business district. Some of the sites including Maracana Stadium from the outside,
Sambodromo (stage of the Carnival Parade) and Praça Maua (with Museu do Amanha) .
We will also visit the synagogue, The Grande Templo. On way to the hotel, we will drive by
Flamengo Park, he largest park in the city. Check-in at the hotel. In the evening transfer at ARI
Synagogue in Botafogo District to celebrate Kaballat Shabbat

Morning Sugar Loaf - you pass the beach “Praia Vermelha” at the urban district called “Urca”.
From there you use a cable – car to go up to the Sugar Loaf. You have a first stop on a hill called
“Morro da Urca” on which several gardens and panorama viewing platforms are located. Arrived
at the second stop you enjoy a spectacular view over Rio de Janeiro, its beaches and the bay
“Guanabara”. At the horizon you can see the mountain called “Corcovado.

Rio by night – Dinner in a typical Churrascaria & Ginga Tropical (folkloric/carnival show) A
Brazilian dance show that gathers on stage various cultures of our tropical country. You will also

PETROPOLIS (B, L)
Full day excursion to Petropolis. A historical small town located in Serra dos Órgãos National
Park, and it is only one hour from Rio de Janeiro. In Petropolis, visitors will have the chance to
see the Imperial Museum, the summer residence of the imperial family during the 19th century,
where to view various historical pieces such as the scepter and crown of Emperor Don Pedro II,
historical documents, imperial jewelry and the priceless pieces of art that belonged to the
imperial family. During our tour we will visit the Crystal Palace and São Pedro de Alcantara
Gothic Cathedral. Visit to a beer factory and lunch is also included during the tour. Free evening

Petropolis
Day 8 Monday July 20
RIO de JANEIRO (B, L, D)
Full day Corcovado Tour & Carnival Experience. The starting point is the urban district “Cosme
Velho”, which is located between city center and Copacabana. By using the train, you pass the
tropical forest “Tijuca”, which is the biggest urban forest in the world. It is also a fantastic place
to look over Rio de Janeiro and to see the mountain. The Corcovado has a height of 2,200 feet. It
is possible to scale it by using the train or by using the listed railway (approximately 2.3 miles).
On the top there is the monument of Christ enthroned, which you can see at each time from
nearly every place in Rio de Janeiro. From this viewing platform you can enjoy one of the most
spectacular panorama views in the world.
On one site the sugar loaf and the beaches “Guanabara” and “Niteròi” and on the other the
beaches “Copacabana” and “Ipanema” as well as the “Laguna Rodrigo de Freitas” are situated.
The Corcovado is in the middle of the nature park named “Tijuca”, which is a tropical
reservation. You can use the tight, double-tracked streets through the compacted vegetation,
which pass several beautiful waterfalls and viewing points along their approximately 62.14 miles
length in total.
Buffet lunch at the Traditional Confeitaria Colombo.A living portrait of the Belle Époque in Rio,
and one of the city's gourmet landmarks, the Confeitaria Colombo still retains much of its Art
Nouveau charm dating back to the beginning of the century. Its famous Belgian mirrors in their
hardwood frames and rosewood showcases, Italian marble benches, ornate light fixtures, glossy
floor and period furniture have been preserved intact, just as they were admired by many famous
individuals who helped write the history of Brazil, while also making the Confeitaria Colombo a
major downtown attraction.
After lunch, unique activity to “live carnival”. Visit to one of Rio´s most important Samba School,
where a short lecture on carnival will be presented. Visit to the “Barracão” (where big carnival
floats and costume are designed and created).
Dinner at Xian. Idealized to fully integrate with nature in front of you. Served by renowned chefs,
the flavors of modern Asia create a vibrant atmosphere.

Transfer to the airport for flight to São Paulo. Arrival and into short city tour of São Paulo, we
will explore mostly downtown São Paulo including Praça da Sé, where we will know the
imposing Cathedral da Sé with his splendid windowpane, then we will walk until yard of School,
place where São Paulo was founded (first construction in the city). The Mercado Municipal –
central market with fresh fruits and vegetable products, the building dates from 1933 and it is an
unique experience to all senses –, and Banespa Tower (Weekdays) with panoramic view of the
city from the 35th floor. Check-in at the hotel and time at leisure
Dinner at Figueira, one of the most famous restaurants in São Paulo. Local personalities are
always found in the restaurant. The main attraction is the outside garden, where tables are
located under a big fig tree.

The Kehilat Israel Synagogue, known as the Synagogue of Graça, is the oldest of Sao Paulo,
located in the historic Jewish quarter of Bom Retiro. It’s first building was opened in 1912, and a
few decades later, the synagogue became too small for the number of attendees and a new
building was built in 1954 on the corner of the streets da Graça and Lubavitch, building that
survives today as a valuable institution for the history of the Jewish community in Sao Paulo.
UNIBES (Uniao Israelita Brasileira de Bem Estar Social): the most important Jewish welfare
organization in Sao Paulo, working in four main sectors: family services (food and clothing
distribution, occupational therapy); basic medical and dental care; the aged (three recreational
and cultural groups); and children (day care and audiological diagnosis and treatment).
The Associacao Brasileira A Hebraica de Sao Paulo: founded 38 years ago, today has 30,000
members and is the largest Jewish organization in Brazil. Its activities include sports, leisure and
entertainment, culture, education, and religious teaching.

Coffee tour. Brazil is the world’s largest producer of coffee, supplying about a third of global
demand. Visit a farm located 80 miles from São Paulo in the region of Campinas. The plantation
has 2.075 acres in production, growing 1.5 million coffee trees. It’s the best-preserved coffee
farm in Campinas and still in activity. It was officially founded in 1798. The original land was
given by the Portuguese Royal Court to a noble Portuguese family, in a process so called
‘Sesmaria’. It is a fabulous part of the Brazilian culture from the slavery period to today’s
production of a premium coffee commercialized in Japan. Until today it is used as reference for
documentaries, motion pictures and soap operas in Brazil and from abroad.
The farm has a well-preserved museum with objects and machines from the 50’s used for
processing coffee, “Casa Grande” (main house where the owner lived), the “Senzala” (for the
slaves) and the “Colonia” (for the immigrants). Visit this beautiful and traditional Coffee Farm
with an exclusive guide tour through the actual day to day life from the “nursery” to the harvest,
roasting and packing.
Dinner at Capim Santo. Capim Santo São Paulo is considered the Embassy of Trancoso - small
village near Porto Seguro bay, where the Portuguese arrived 500 years ago in search of spices
and discovered Brazil. From there, our Chef, who was raised among the pots in the kitchen of her
parents, went to the world in search of culinary technique and culture. In France, Morena
graduated from Cordon Bleu and brought as her highest lesson the importance of valuing local
products and suppliers. Today her culinary philosophy is based on healthy eating, with French
technique and Brazilian ingredients

MASP (Art Museum of São Paulo) - It is a private not-for-profit museum founded in 1947 by

southern hemisphere, MASP’s holdings currently consist of more than 10 thousand artworks,
including paintings, sculptures, objects, photographs, videos and pieces of clothing from various

Explore the Brazilian side of Iguazu falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most
visited sites in all South America. Observe the unique flora and fauna of this subtropical rain
forest and visit the Parque das Aves, a fabulous bird sanctuary. Situated in the Mata Atlantica, or
Atlantic Rain Forest, the Bird Park houses, in addition to very rare and colorful birds, Caiman
Crocodiles, Boa Constrictors, Marmosets and Butterflies. Check-in at the hotel and enjoy dinner.

Visit Itaipú the biggest dam in the world located on the Paraná River. Drive to Iguazú National

waterfalls which run along 1.5 miles of the Iguazú River - two thirds of which lie in Argentina
and one third of which is in Brazil. Enjoy dinner together at the hotel.

Jesuit Missions – Trinidad
DAY 3 Monday July 27
FOZ do IGUACU-TRINIDAD-ASUNCION(B, L, D)
Cross the border to Ciudad del Este (Paraguay) and drive to La Santisima Trinidad de Paraná, a
former Jesuit reduction in Paraguay. It is an example of one of the many Jesuit reductions, small
colonies established by the missionaries in various locations in South America, such
as Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay throughout the 17th and 18th century. These missions were
built as self-contained societies that existed outside of regular Spanish colonial life that
integrated indigenous populations with Christian faith. Owing in part to its relatively recent
construction, Trinidad bore the weathering of time well, and modern historical societies have
maintained the current, well-preserved state of the ruins to this day. It has also been named one
of two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Paraguay. Drive to Asunción, capital of Paraguay. One
of the oldest settlements in South America founded in 1536.

members only. Visit the Jewish school “Estado de Israel” and meet high school students. Later
meet Mariano Mirelman, Paraguay’s Jewish Community Executive Director and visit with him
the synagogue and the Hebraica. Enjoy lunch with members of the Jewish Community. After
lunch take a city tour visiting the Presidential Palace, Independence House and finish the day
with a stroll at the boardwalk. Dinner in a local restaurant. Transfer to the airport for those who
