RE: BRASS BELL BEST START BURSARY

Brass Bell Family Resource Centre/Best Start would like to sponsor a $500.00 (five hundred dollar) bursary for your June 2014 graduation ceremonies. Consideration may be given to a student who will be continuing on to post-secondary education in a field which would involve children. Possible areas of study include: Early Childhood Education, Education, Social Work, Nursing, Developmental Services, Recreation and Leisure, Dental Assistant, Child and Youth Worker, Native Child and Family Worker, or Aboriginal Community Services Worker. Please encourage any student who is planning on attending college or university in any related field, or who has demonstrated noteworthy involvement with children through various volunteer/work related activities. Preference may be given to a child whose parent is employed by Brass Bell Best Start.

The name of the bursary will be: "Brass Bell Best Start Bursary".

Our organization requires the recipient to submit proof of his/her enrollment to the second term of studies in his/her chosen field by January 31, as well as their Social Insurance number for tax purposes. We will award the monies in February or March 2015.

Please find enclosed the student profile form that you may copy for the applicants to complete, or advise them to visit www.brassbell.org for the form. In addition to the above mentioned profile form, a cover letter from the applicant, and a copy of their school transcript must be submitted. We also require the applying student to compose a 500 word essay or create an 8.5 x 11 size poster; (either hand drawn or computer generated) on educating youth about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).

We would anticipate receiving the student application by May 23, 2014, in order to review and make our selection.
