Wales is a small, friendly, fascinating country, with a rich history, diverse geography, exciting attractions and mouth-watering produce.

You are never far from a mountain or the sea, which explains why we are so popular with walkers, climbers, surfers and sailors. Snowdon is taller than any peak in the whole of England, and our clean unspoilt beaches and coastline attract a fantastic array of marine life, including dolphins, porpoises, basking sharks, seals and turtles.

By contrast, Cardiff, our capital and home to S.A. Brain and Co., is a thriving city, whose reputation continues to grow. The Millennium Stadium hosts global sporting events, while shopping centres such as St David’s 2, featuring the largest John Lewis store outside London, draw shoppers from far and wide.

Cardiff Bay boasts iconic buildings such as the Wales Millennium Centre and the Senedd – home of the Welsh Assembly Government.

A proud sporting nation, Wales hosts international rugby, football and cricket, and our superb golf courses have gained a new profile, with the Celtic Manor Resort, Newport staging the 2010 Ryder Cup.

As a nation, we are excited about the future, but we believe in looking after our history, as you will see from our majestic castles, much-loved steam railways, preserved coal mines and popular museums.

Wales has its own language – one of the oldest in Europe – which is celebrated at the annual Eisteddfod, while our love of all literature is showcased at the world’s most famous literary festival at Hay-on-Wye.

We love food and drink too, and with more sheep than people, it’s no surprise that Welsh lamb is a favourite! Beef, dairy products, seafood and wine are among other famous Welsh produce. You’ll find these and more on the menus in our inns and hotels.

S.A. Brain & Co. Ltd is Wales’ leading drinks and hospitality business. Founded in 1882, we combine over a century of tradition with a modern and positive approach that has made our family of pubs a leader in the UK hospitality industry.

Usually just known as ‘Brains’, we are famous for our high-quality brewing standards, strong community values and ‘positive’ thinking, and we are proud to be called Wales’ national brewery.

Our experience of running a brewery and operating more than 250 pubs has taught us how to craft and look after our beers, which include the legendary SA and award-winning Dark.

Our pub estate has expanded rapidly over the past 10 years, stretching well beyond our Cardiff heartland. You can now find the Brains name above the door of over 250 pubs, bars and hotels across Wales and the West of England.

From mini breaks on the West Wales coastline to a night out in our city centre bars to a fantastic meal in a small country pub – we have it all. Great food, great beer and great pubs!

Brewed at the Cardiff Brewery, our award-winning beers are now widely available across Wales and can increasingly be found throughout the rest of Britain in major supermarkets, as well as in pubs all over the UK as guest ales.

Still owned by the family that took over a fledgling brewery in a small stone building behind a Cardiff pub in 1882, Brains is proud of its independence, proud of its beers and proud of its pubs, inns and hotels. We look forward to seeing you soon – iechyd da!
