INTER-DISCIPLINARY ASSIGNMENT

You are part of the original scientific team that discovered HPV. This is the most important scientific discovery on cancer research in the past 5 years.

As such, your evidence is in demand. To keep your funding, you have to produce an article for Medical News Today sharing your findings on HPV. You must consider the social, moral and ethical implications of your research, including the historical background.

THE REPORT

Page 4: BRAES ANATOMY An inter-disciplinary course between History, RMPS and Science Gray’s Anatomy of the Human Body, 1918

I have checked my spelling.

I have commas, capital letters and full stops.

I have written in sentences.

I have used connectives to extend sentences (for example, and, but, because, yet)

I have formed paragraphs.

I have checked my work and it makes sense.

I have used my notes from History, Science and RMPS to create a new text.

I can express my opinion with relevant supporting evidence.

This report will be assessing both your understanding of the different areas and your literacy.

SUCCESS CRITERIA

Page 5: BRAES ANATOMY An inter-disciplinary course between History, RMPS and Science Gray’s Anatomy of the Human Body, 1918

Put the title:“Medical News Today – HPV Vaccines”

Step 1: The introduction.

You should start by introducing yourself and what the aim of the report is.

You are a scientist working on the HPV vaccination and you are going to explain why it is important to keep your funding…………

LAYOUT OF REPORT

Step 2: The main body of the report.

Using your three pieces of homework from History, Science, and RMPS you should now put forward your arguments as to why you should keep your funding for HPV. Think about your literacy success criteria when arranging this.

Think about ideas like: O why and how medicine evolved and the impactO how could this be related to medicine todayO what does a vaccine do to the body; think about

the advantages and disadvantages of this. O what moral implications are there for

creating/using vaccines; how could a scientist respond to these to allow the use of vaccines?

Step 3: The conclusion

Finish this report by summarising why you should keep your funding.

Step 4: Checking over your work.

Read over what you have written. • Does it make sense?• Have you explained everything clearly

and in enough detail?• Check the literacy success criteria sheet
