Testing and revision

Test and assess

Teachers can test and assess pupils’ academic level with EducationCity.com’s tests. After setting the questions, the module marks the papers and returns an English National Curriculum level. It then directs the pupil to their very own revision pathway.

The tests sit within the maths module for pupils aged 5 to 11, and science for pupils aged 9 to 11 and:

• replicate the actual tests pupils sit at the end of the year

• can be used for Assessment for Learning or revision purposes.

At the end of the test, the pupil can save his score to SuccessTracker. He will then automatically be given a personal Revision Pathway, which will focus on the gaps in his knowledge.

Peer Assessment – for pupils aged 8 to 11 Maths Tests - the peer assessor can mark test questions as correct or incorrect.

Personalised Revision Pathways

Individual Revision Pathways automatically created from test results for personalised learning and improvement, populating activities that can help improve identified areas of weakness

This is a list of activities derived from the most recent test taken and targets pupils’ weakest areas. Thereafter, each activity that has been successfully completed will be made visually evident to the pupil. This means that pupils can progress on to the next activity within their Revision Pathway ready to retake a test and raise attainment next time.

Accessibility and e-safety

We ensure accessibility and inclusion

Through understanding the diverse learning needs of children we have designed our product to build on children’s interests and experiences using materials that reflect social and cultural diversity; providing a positive image of race, gender and disability. With personalised learning key to our core product, teachers can create sets or sub groups of activities appropriate to each group’s learning needs, preference and ability.

Our activities support and provide gifted and talented children with the opportunity to further their learning on a personalised level by specifically targeting their level of knowledge, allowing freedom to work at their own pace without the support of a teacher.

We take e-safety seriously

As an online company we are acutely aware of the changing developments in the world of e-safety, with new threats developing on a continual basis. We are dedicated to:

• safeguarding any personal information collected online and store all collected child data on secure, dedicated servers

• help parents and children learn about safe use of the internet

In response to teacher feedback we have added a ‘Privacy’ button to PlayLive. This enables teachers to hide players' names; show or hide the school name; change which name is displayed (first or surname); have initials only displayed, or choose randomly from a list of avatars ensuring that our live features are completely safe and secure for our users.

We automatically track progression
