‘together we are stronger’

Another busy week ‘Growing together’

Another Fabulous Story Cafe

We had a wonderful time last Friday afternoon reading ‘The Crow’s tale’ we then decorated our

own colourful feathers which showed all the amazing qualities about us - why not come and see

the display in the hall. We also found feathers with different parts of the story on and tried to

put them into the correct sequence so that we could retell the story to our friends.

More photos available to view on the NEW LOOK school website.

Shark Class In Sharks class we have been recapping how to write non-chronological reports, but before we could produce our own we had to use our research skills to find out information about Isaac Newton. It was a very cross-curricula activity and we had our English, guided reading and science books out along with our chromebooks - we were VERY curious, collaborative and resourceful!

Dolphin Class In Dolphins we have been busy learning how to build electric circuits and this week we even built our own torches! In English we have been learning to write instructions so that other children in school can have a go at building their own. We imagined what it would be like to go into the sewer in our book ‘ Krindlekrax’ equipped with the torches we have created.

Here’s what you said about the event: ‘I love the reading cafes. It’s great to share in school life and encourage reading.’

‘Good fun, nice story. Liked the performance too!’ ‘The story gives a good moral message. Nice atmosphere and activities.’

‘Love how the staff act out the story for all of us to enjoy.’

‘Story cafe was as good as usual. Lovely story. Good cake. Thank you.’

Thank you to all those who came. We will be trying the suggested cafe environment of the tables for the story performance as suggested in the feedback at our next story cafe which is scheduled for

Thursday 5th April @2pm - Hope you can make it - we’d love to see you there.

Seahorse Class Reception have been looking at the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. As well as re-enacting the story they have also made some porridge. There was meant to be some left over but they liked it so much they ate it all!

Newton Knowledge! In Topic this week Sharks and Dolphins have been learning about Isaac Newton and we had fun using tennis balls to demonstrate the 3 laws of motion and even had played with Non-Newtonian substances

Big Battery Hunt

We have signed up to take part in the Big Battery Hunt to help

recycle more batteries. Each child has been given their own

battery recycling box which they have brought home today

which they can personalise. They can collect any used (and not

leaking) AAA, AA, C and D batteries in their box and these can

then be brought into school to be added to the recycling drum

in the airlock. Make sure your child informs their teacher how

many they have collected. There are instructions and safety

advice on the bottom of the children’s collection boxes. Prizes

are available to schools for taking part. The deadline for entries

is 5th March. Get collecting.

Water Bottles and Snack

Just a reminder that in-classroom water bottles should

only have water in them. Children can bring squash/juice

to drink with their lunch.

The school tuck shop serves only healthy options at break

times such as fruit, yogurt, cheese and costs 30p.

Children can bring a healthy snack from home.

Parking

Please ensure when dropping children off at the start of

the school day and picking up at the end of the school

day that you park sensibly to ensure the safety of

everyone.

Coming soon….. Now starting this coming Wednesday - the children will begin

taking part in the Golden Mile initiative. This is a walking club

which intends to promote fitness and activity as part of a

healthy Lifestyle. The distance walked by each child will be

recorded by our Golden Mile pupil ambassadors. Children will

have the opportunity to walk each day.
