How to Prepare My Child● Talk to your child about going to kindergarten
○ be enthusiastic to decrease anxiety● Visit the school, play on the playground● Attend scheduled Story Hours and Open Houses● Develop routines - sleeping and eating● Encourage socialization● Work on being responsible
○ cleaning up after play, dressing themselves, using the bathroom independently
● Social Stories for children who have difficulty with new situations

● BPS has other options for students who may not be ready to go to their neighborhood school - I can answer those questions specifically after the presentation
Parent Communication● Conferences (set day in December and Spring as
needed)● Report Cards (January and June) ● Volunteer opportunities (school/classroom specific)● Cori’s need to be complete in superintendent’s office● Field Trips-school specific all related to themes ● Blogs-teacher specific good way to know what is

School Lunch ProgramBurlington Cafeterias are Cashless!● Parents set up a “Paypams Account” and load money onto
the account using a debit or credit card.○ If you prefer to pay by check, you can send in a check to school with your
child addressed to: Burlington Public School Lunch● All families receive a handout on setting up
an account at the beginning of the school year.

Free and Reduced Lunch Eligibility:● Forms are sent home to ALL students at the beginning
of the school year.
