Am I eligible to apply for BPCL ? Candidates currently in final year of their Mechanical / Chemical / Civil / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering (full time regular course only) may also apply. However, if selected, they must be in a position to submit their final semester/year mark sheets by August, 2015. Note: Candidates who are in 3rd year and who are likely to pass their final year in 2016 are not eligible. 3 I have completed my B.E. / B.Tech Engineering degree after diploma in engineering. How should I calculate my aggregate marks ? General & OBC(NCL) candidates should have minimum 60% marks (For SC, ST & PWD - minimum 50%) in aggregate of all semesters, in qualifying Degree (B.E/B. Tech/B.Sc(Engg)). 4 I have completed B.E/B.Tech degree in other discipline, say Production engineering; other than Mechanical Engineering. Can I apply against Mechanical Engineering Discipline? No. The candidates who have studied Mechanical Engineering are only eligible to apply against Mechanical Engineering Discipline. 5 I have completed B.E/B.Tech in 4.5 years, as I had backlogs / arrears in the last semester.     6 I have completed my B.E. / B.Tech Engineering degree after diploma in engineering and my duration of B.E/B.Tech engineering course is 3 years. Am I eligible for BPCL ?

    Yes, you are eligible.

    7 In my college / university, only 7th and 8th semester marks are considered for calculation of percentage of marks. How is the percentage of marks calculated in BPCL?

    In BPCL, percentage of marks means aggregate of all semesters irrespective of the norms / system followed in the college / university.

    8 Where the university does not give percentage and only gives letter grades/CGPA/OGPA/DGPA, how to fill-in the % of marks in the on-line application ?

    Wherever letter grades/ CGPA/ OGPA/ DGPA is given, the same should be converted into % of marks as per conversion formula applied by the Institute/ University for awarding class/ division.

    In BPCL, percentage of marks means aggregate of all semesters.

    9 GATE conducts its examination in so many papers. Will marks from all the papers be considered by BPCL?

    BPCL will consider GATE-2015 marks in Mechanical / Chemical / Civil / Electrical / Instrumentation engineering discipline only. Please see the detail advertisement in BPCL career website www.bpclcareers.in

    10 I appeared in GATE last year. Do I need to write GATE in this year again?

    Yes. BPCL will consider only GATE-2015 marks. GATE-2014 marks or any exam prior to that will not be considered for its recruitment purpose.

    11 Can I apply to BPCL before downloading GATE admit card?

    No. You have to apply to BPCL with GATE registration number. GATE admit cards will have your GATE registration Number. Without the GATE registration number, your GATE marks will not be retrievable.

    12 I am a student of M.Tech/ passed M.Tech. During my M.Tech admission, I appeared in GATE. Will my previous GATE marks be considered by BPCL?

    No. BPCL will consider only GATE-2015 marks. You will have to appear again for GATE 2015, if you are interested to apply for BPCL.

    13 What is the date of commencement and last date for submission of online application for BPCL?

    The candidates may submit online application at our career website i.e www.bpclcareers.in from 17th December 2014 to 31st January 2015.

    14 Do I have to pay separate application fee?

    No, there is no separate fee payable for BPCL. However, candidates need to pay the requisite fee for appearing in GATE 2015.

    15 I am working with Central / State Govt / PSU. Do I need to apply through proper channel / produce NOC ?

    Yes. Candidates working with Central / State Govt / PSU should produce NOC at the time of interview. If applying through proper channel is pre-requisite for obtaining NOC at the time of interview by current employer, the candidate may send the physical copy of the online application form to Chief Manager Recruitment (HRD), Bharat Bhavan I, 4&6, Currimbhoy Road, Ballard Estate, Mumbai 400 001.

    16 I have completed 5 years Integrated course i.e M.Tech. Am I eligible to apply through GATE 2014 ?

    No, you are not eligible.

    18 I have appeared for my final Semester / Year Examinations and the results are yet to be announced. What marks do I enter in the column for aggregate % of marks

    Please calculate the aggregate % of marks till the last semester for which the results are available and enter the same in the marks column. However, you must be in a position to produce the final semester/years mark sheets by August 2015.
