Central Narcotics Bureau, Singapore

The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) was establishedin 1971 as the primary drug enforcement agencyenlrusted wilh the responsibilities of coordinating allmatters pertaining to drug eradicalion.

CNB's vision is for a Singapore without drugs, whereeveryone can live, work and play safely. To achievethis vision, it has sel out with the mission to E to.ce,Educate and Engage,fora drug free Singapore. CNBworks with the community through preventiveeducation and aclively enforces and cooperates withits colnterparts, both local and inlernational, to slemlhe flow of drugs into and within Singapore.

Course Oblectives

Through the sharing of latest scientific findings andgood practices on preventive drug educalion, thisregional training workshop aims to improve countries'capabilitiGs to adopt evidence-based preventionstrategies in educational settings as well as enhancetheir national prevenlion skalegies.

Synopsis of Topics

l. Development of a shared understanding oIprevention policies, particularly in educationalsettings through mulli-seotoral dialogueamongsl stakeholders at national/regionallevels.

ll. Process of planning the improvemenl ofnational prevention strategies and relatedinf raskucture and programmes

lll. lJsing educational settrngs as a hub to supportevidence-based prevention in other settingsparticularly the family and lhe community

lV. Strategies for improved monitoring andevaluation of existing drug use preventionprogrammes.

Methodology

A variety of teaching methodologies will be usedlhroughout lhe coLrrse to ensure active learning andparticipation including classroom-style lectures, group

discussions, hands-on exercises and markel place

networking sessions. Relevant site visits will also beincluded to enhance the leaming experience of theparlicipants.

Duration

The workshop will be held in Sinoapore from 2a to26 S.ptember 2019.

Applicants should be:

. Mid- to senior-level government officialsinvolved in drug prevention in a range ofsectors, includrng the heallh, educetion, socialwelfare, justice and law enforcement sectors;

. From ASEAN. South Asia and Pacific lslandStatesi

. Nominated by lheir respective Govemments;

. Proficienl in spoken and \^/ritlen English.

Terms of Award

The course is sponsored by the Government ofSingapore and the TJNODC under the SingaporeUNODC Joint Training Programme.

Under this programme anangement, theGovemment of Singapore will bear the followingexpenses for the successful applicants (thoreafterknown as partrcipants) during their trarnlng inSingapore. These expenses include:

. A daily training allowanc€ of One Hundred andTwenty Singapore Dollars (S$120) from firstday to lastdayofthe cou6e to covermeals anddaily expenses lcomplimentary breakfasl isprovided in the hotel from lhe first day to oneday after the course-l;

. Transportalion to coursie venue and site visits;and

. Accommodalion for the entire duralion of thecourse,
