Friday Choice: Pick an activity that you want to do for today’s exercise. It could be a mini boot camp, a walk,
badminton, basketball etc.
Creative Design a bird
Have a think about different types of birds. Today we would like you to create a new type. You should include: an image of
them, their habitat and what they need to survive.
Mindfulness: Superhero
If you were a superhero what superpower would you have?
Draw yourself as a superhero or make a comic strip.
Mini Beast Spotter Go out into your garden or an
outdoor space and see if you can spot any of the mini beasts on
the attached sheet. Did you spot any other wildlife?

Use a pencil to capture the detail shape and texture of something natural. You could sit outside while you do this and listen to
nature.

Recycle Week
1. Own explanation.
2. Some objects people forget to recycle are: conditioner bottles, bleach bottles, tissue boxes and deodorant cans.
3. The phrase ‘natural resources come straight from the earth’ means anything natural from the ground that can be used. An example
would be coal or wood.
4. Recycling reduces landfill because less things would be left in a landfill if they are being recycled and reused.
5. Living near a landfill would be smelly because of the methane gas and dirty because of the rubbish left there.
6. Take them to a charity shop/leave them in a bag on the doorstep/take them to a supermarket recycling point.
7. Glass and steel are special because they don’t lose their quality when recycled.
8. Recycling bins can be blue, green or other colours depending on where you live.
9. Recycling is important because it saves energy, the environment, resources and reduces landfill.

Monday – Poetry
This week we will be looking at poetry. Today we would like you to look at the poems below and identify some of the key features using the key
provided. You may want to use coloured pencils to help you identify each different feature or a ruler and a pencil to neatly underline/label.

We covered similes and metaphors a few weeks ago (w/b 8.6.20) so you might want to look back at your learning from then to refresh your
memory. Today we are going to focus on alliteration and personification.
Alliteration:
Alliteration is where the first letters of multiple words are the same. Here are some examples:
Remember: alliteration could be just 3 words in a sentence. Now have a go at writing some examples of alliteration yourself. Challenge: Can you
link them to teamwork ready for your writing later this week?

Wednesday – Planning
Today you are going to plan your poem. As this week we are focusing on our PART-E value of Teamwork, we would like you to write your poem
about teamwork. You can choose to do an acrostic poem (where you spell Teamwork down the side of the poem so that each line starts with a
letter of the word teamwork), a poem with different verses or a simple poem. Remember to challenge yourself and be your Bowsland Best.

Using your plan from yesterday, we would like you to put your ideas together to create your poem about teamwork. Use the success criteria
below to ensure that you have included a range of features. Pick at least 3 of the features to include:

Friday– Editing, publishing and performing poetry
Re-read your writing from yesterday. Use the list below to check and edit your learning:
1. Does each line make sense?
2. Have you included correct punctuation (for example capital letters to start each line and a comma at the end, except the last line)?
3. Have you included a range of features from the success criteria?
4. Pick 3 words to up-level, you may want to use an online thesaurus to support you.
Once you have edited your learning, re-draft your poem with any changes made on the template below, a piece of paper that you could decorate
with teamwork pictures or into your Special Home learning books. You may choose to type your poem out. Remember to use your Bowsland Best
presentation and joined handwriting, you are publishing your poem.
