Schools Spectactular Last week saw the massive performing arts produc on that is ‘Schools Spectacular’ performed at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney’s Olympic park. Part of that produc on, for the second me in the school’s history, were five talented students from Bowraville Central School. Lauren Ma ck, Megan Johnstone, Sara Johnstone, Shelayna Boorer and Jorjah Handley all par cipated in the combined dance segment of Schools Spectacular. The process required our students to be successful in online audi ons followed by learning choreography via video link and out of school rehearsal at Port Macquarie and Sydney. Last Tuesday Mr. Briggs, students and their parents travelled to Sydney to prepare for the performance. Wednesday saw the first prac ce with more than 400 students combine from across the state for the first me. Four performances were presented across two
days, Friday and Saturday, to thousands of cheering viewers and will be telecast on Channel 7 next Saturday. Keep out an eye for the five best dancers in orange and yellow dancing in the ‘Shut up and Dance’ segment. Big Thanks to all the parents who helped make this happen for their kids.

Spectacular Effort The en re Bowraville Central School community should be justly proud of our team of performers who last week took part in the 2016 School Spectacular at Olympic Park, Sydney. Megan Johnstone, Sara Johnstone, Shelayna Boorer, Jorjah Handley and Lauren Ma ck should all be very proud both of their highly professional contribu on to the event and the way in which they represented their school and community. Such events take a huge amount of planning and commitment from both staff and families. Sincere thanks and congratula ons to Mr Briggs and Ms McPherson for their guidance and organisa on; and to our ever‐suppor ve parents: Teresa Boorer, Rhonda Johnstone, Julie Handley, and Bre and Lyn Ma ck, a huge thank you for your very generous efforts. This is the second year in a row that students from Bowraville have been accepted into this quite amazing experience. We look forward to more great opportuni es in the years ahead. Great Bowra Events Our school was proud to collaborate with Ready Mob for the inaugural Bowraville Memorial Cup Youth Expo and touch football compe on, held on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th November. Both days were extremely successful events, offering opportuni es for young people to connect with a large range of youth services and par cipate in healthy ac vi es as a community. We look forward to this important event growing and evolving each year. Also on Saturday 26th November, our Community Garden was the perfect venue for a very yummy cook‐up with interna onally famous chef, Clayton Donovan as part of the ‘Our Living Coast Sustainability Roadshow’. Thank you to Clayton and the Nambucca Shire Council for choosing our beau ful garden (and pizza oven) as the venue for this great event. Have a great week. Malcolm McFarlane
Presenta on Day Our Annual Presenta on Day will be held on Tuesday 13th December, 2016 with the Infants ceremony commencing at 9.30am followed by the Primary and Secondary ceremony at 11.00am. This day of celebra on will be held in our gymnasium. Please join us in this celebra on of our students’ achievements in educa on, sport and ci zenship.
This week, Kindergarten has been learning about how our rubbish can go down the drain, into the Nambucca River, and out to the ocean where it can harm, and even kill sea creatures. At lunch me on Tuesday, several students decided of their own voli on to go around the playground and collect rubbish. The students were Viole e Hyland, Jacinda Constan nou, Mawaa Greenup, Jarrah Sylvia, Lareeah Ducke ‐Poll and Ryan Czisz.
Bowraville Youth Expo Today we went to the oval. We tried what we are good at first. We jumped on the jumping castle. We had lunch and we went to the sand castle and s ck art and then we went back to school. We went into the class room and took our shoes off. By Viole e Hyland Kindergarten

SCIENTIST OF THE WEEK
Nambucca Valley Physi. Wow, What an exci ng first year we've had. If you missed out on trying Physi this year, our classes for 2017 will recommence 8th February 2017. Classes will be held Wednesday a ernoons at the Nambucca Arts and Community Centre. Physi fuses dance styles such as Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary and Yoga. It is also a team based sport that's social and fun. Choreography changes yearly and is performed to modern music. Physi is a sport for life with classes being offered to girls from 3 years of age to classes for mature ladies. We are affiliated with the Edith Parsons School of Physical Culture. Fruity Summer treat – Iced Fruit Kebabs
Ingredients: 1 kg watermelon
3 large mangoes
200g strawberries
3 kiwifruit
Method - Remove the rind and seeds from the watermelon, cut into 1.5cm thick slices (use a star cutter to cut shapes from the flesh if available). Cut the strawberries in half. Cut the cheeks from the mango stone, remove the skin and cut each cheek into thick slices. Remove the skin from the kiwifruit and cut into 1.5cm thick slices. Thread the fruit onto bamboo skewers and place on a paper-lined non stick baking tray. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze until solid. Makes 8.
