A focus on teaching This week and next Bowraville Central School teaching staff will be involved in the second phase of our Teacher Performance and Development Framework implementa on. Like all professionals our staff are required to plan their goals, show evidence of their development, and undertake a review process. Schools across NSW are following a similar process but at Bowraville we are further facilita ng the process by having a mid‐term focus on these professional conversa ons. Commencing in Week 5 of Term 1, staff will again this week have discussions with their supervisors and collaborate around peer observa ons of teaching prac ce. Just as students learn a lot from each other in any classroom, research has overwhelmingly shown that teachers also benefit greatly from observing colleagues and having their own prac ce observed. We are very proud of our teaching team here at Bowra, and I am very keen to ensure that our prac ces always con nue to improve in order to provide the best possible learning opportuni es for all students. I look forward to discussing this and much more at the next P&C mee ng to be held on Thursday 26th May. Coinciding as it does again with the student social I hope to see as many people as possible come along. Have a great week. Malcolm McFarlane

Year 8 Self Portraits
Year 9/10 Science & Engineering Challenge
Teamwork was the order of the day on Wednesday 18th May, when students from Years 9 & 10 travelled to
Kempsey for the annual Science and Engineering Challenge. Catapult, bridge and hovercra building were just a
few of the ac vi es that students par cipated in over the course of the day. Everyone took Responsibility for their
challenges and demonstrated great Resilience by carrying on even though they were not able to compete in every
challenge due to lack of numbers. Students modelled Respect perfectly by graciously shaking hands and
congratula ng other compe tors and despite all the odds managed to come home with a third place.
Congratula ons to all involved, and thank you all for a great day!
