The Off Road Experience at Bovey Castle is a thrill seekers dream that will get your heart pumping – the perfectteam building experience for corporate days and incentives.

Our corporate days include:

Use of the off road track and our fleet of Land Rovers for a half or full day

Refreshments on arrival

Meeting and greet with our experience instructors

Safety briefing

Off-road driving for each person under instruction around the off road track. Includes scoring based on

driving technique, gear changes, throttle and clutch control and awareness of track conditions. Lunch

Competitive skills challenge

Presentation of certificates to group and individual winners with refreshments (trophies can be arranged)

Groups will be split into teams (size dependent)

Falconry

Option 1 – Birds of Prey Experience

An afternoon spent with birds of prey is quite unforgettable. You will get to fly a variety of different birds ofprey, observe their individual characteristics and see close up the wonderful partnership that exists betweenfalconers and their birds. This session is held on the herbaceous border that surrounds the summerhouse atBovey Castle.

Option 2 – Falconry experience

A hands-on falconry session at Martin Whitley’s falconry centre lasting approximately 3 hours. Starts with anintroduction to the various types of birds of prey cared for by Martin, before moving on to flying owls, workingwith high-speed falcons and then an Eagle Experience, before returning to the hotel with a hawk escort.

Cider and Sloe Gin Making

In our authentic Long Barn learn not only how to make cider and sloe gin, but also about the history of makingtraditional drinks. Start the cider making process by crushing the apples in our cider press, taste the freshlysqueezed juice and, of course, sample some cider made by previous guests. Move on to sloe gin making andtasting. During the autumn fresh sloe berries are picked and used to make sloe gin. At other times, seasonalfruits are used.

Archery and Air Rifle Shooting

Learn how to use a re-curve bow and have a shot at a range of targets. Also have a go with the air rifles. This isa fun activity which can be arranged to be as competitive or as friendly as you wish.

Cocktail Master Class

Spend time with our resident Mixologist, learning how to mix a variety of different cocktails, and of coursedrinking the finished product!

Clay Pigeon Experience

Wander through the estate to our clay range to try your hand-eye coordination with .410 shotgun. Whetherit's your first time or you’re an experienced shot, the clays are sure to entertain.

(Please note that we currently only offer larger groups the opportunity to do this on site and this is done more as an experience/competition rather than a lesson as we only have one angle of shot. It is still great fun! For any enquiries regarding lessons we offer thisoff site – a 20 minute drive away with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 people per session).

Laser Clays

Laser Clays is a totally unique, hi-tech electronic version of the country sport clay pigeon shooting and isideal for larger groups. Using de-activated shotguns, participants test their skill by firing laser beams atclays fired from a traditional trap. The shot guns use an infra red pulse which acts the same as a traditionalcartridge.

Woodland Survival Activities

We offer different courses for the woodland survival activities which are all outlined below. These can be madeinto bespoke sessions depending on the size of the group in question and the demands of what they want toachieve from each session. For example it is possible to run fire building, shelter building all in a 1 hour sessionhowever people would get far more from the session if they concentrated on just one aspect. Inlarger group numbers particular aspects can be delegated and scored in team building exercises wherebyteam skills and communication are tested.

Reptile Encounters with Dartmoor Zoo

In this fully interactive, ‘hands on’ session we bring the zoo to you! DZP Outreach allows you to get hands-onsome of the less furry animals from the zoo while also learning about the lifestyle and habitats of a range ofdifferent species. Animals in the Close Encounters display may vary depending on feed cycles and yourdistance from the zoo, but may include:Blue Tongued Skink, Corn Snake, Milk Snake, Leopard Tortoise, Crested Gecko, Hog-nosed Snake, OrangeHeaded Cockroaches, Leaf Insects, Stick Insects, Chilean Rose Tarantula OR Giant African Land Snails.

Country Fair

This event can either be run for individuals or for teams within the hotel grounds between late April - lateSeptember. In the event of bad weather an indoor fair can be organised.

Fly Fishing

Learn the art of fly fishing from our expert fisherman Mike down on the lake at Bovey Castle. Mike provides allthe equipment needed and brings with him years of experience and fisherman’s tales! Brown and rainbowtrout are the most commonly caught fish in the lake.

Quad Biking

Join a team of fully trained instructors to tackle 12 miles of woodland quad bike track in the picturesquesurrounding of South Devon.

(Please note this activity is approximately 45 minutes away from Bovey Castle).

Golf Lessons

Lessons are provided by one of our resident pros and are tailored to suit the needs of the individual.They are suitable for golfers and non-golfers.

A good fun golf competition - it takes place from just below the south terrace to the green on the otherside of the lake. The event is supervised by our resident golf pro and is suitable for golfers and non-golfers.

Ferret Racing

Handle and learn about our friendly castle ferrets. Use this time wisely to pick out your favourite to supportin our obstacle course which is set up and where we race all ferrets to the end. Bet as much or as little asyou like and cheer your ferret on to victory!

Falconry Display

Watch a variety of birds take to the air and gain in-depth knowledge about them, from owls to hawks to falcons,all with humorous commentary from our resident falconer.
