Sweet scents of flowers, hints of ripe apricot, pineapple and melon.

Golden straw in colour with aromas of toasted almonds, guava and stone fruit redolent of peaches tempered by

steady line of acidity.

The winery Masseria Setteporte is located in a very unique place: on the south-western slope of the Sicilian

volcano Mt Etna, in the town of Biancavilla. Intense ruby red in colour, pleasantly fruity with hints of red hints of

red fruit and wild berries. Harmonious, elegant and persistent palate.

2015 botter appassimento rosso igt, Puglia, ITA 78.10

A full bodied wine made from carefully selected sun-dried grapes. This method, called Appassimento, increases

the concentration of fruit and flavours in the wine thus giving the wine a rich, complex and fruity aroma followed

by notes of ripe dark cherries, fresh herbs and vanilla.

2013 Marchesi di barolo docg, Piemonte, ITA 154

Garnet red with ruby reflections. The aroma is intense and persistent with distinct traces of spices, cinnamon,

absinthe, tobacco and wild rose. The taste is full and elegant, with soft tannins. The spicy and the woody

aromas blend perfectly.

2016 armstead estate ‘moorabbee road’ shiraz, Heathcote, VIC 66

Produced by low yielding vines. Medium bodied Shiraz has lovely spicy aromas and a fruity palate. Controlled oak

ensures a soft finish and beautiful fine tannins.

2014 Lloyd brothers mClaren vale shiraz, McLaren Vale, SA 72.60

This wine shows lovely, rich ripe dark berry and plum cake characters on the palate with mocha overtones.

Beautifully backed up with a hint of spice, liquorice and black pepper. Seasoned in French and American Oak.

2017 two hands ‘bella’s garden’ shiraz, Barossa Valley, SA 99

Deep notes of blackberry, chocolate, baking spics and smoked meat are complimented by floral top notes of

lavender and pot pourri.

2012 Smallfry ‘El grande’ shiraz, Barossa Valley, SA 99

The fruit comes from a particular small block of extremely old Shiraz [150-155 year old circa] the age has integrated

the nose of blood plum, dark cherries and complex woody spice.

2013 tim adams ‘the aberfeldy’ shiraz, Clare Valley, SA 104.50

The Aberfeldy has vibrant magenta colour with aromatics of cherry, plum, dark berries and chocolate

complemented by the oak derived characters of clove, nutmeg and vanilla. The palate is full-bodied with dark

berry conserve flavours and balanced oak, firm tannin and acidity. The wine has persistent length of sweet fruit

and oak, with power, elegance and great finesse.

2011 geoff merrill ‘reserve’ shiraz, McLaren Vale, SA 104.50

The nose begins with hints of barnyard then opens up with dried herbs & rich ripe fruit. The hints of menthol

coming through on the palate are quickly overtaken by fresh fruit and dark chocolate.

2015 Mountadam high eden ‘patriarch’ shiraz, Barossa Valley, SA 110

Displays intense dark berry aromatics. The fruit characters are enhanced by oak derived aromas of cedar and spice.

The palate has intense dark berry flavours balanced with supple tannins. The medium bodied Shiraz is well-balanced

and has enormous persistence of flavour.

2010 brothers in arms shiraz, Langhorne Creek, SA 132

Colour is deep with a touch of purple hue. The nose shows ripe fruits with an underlying spice character. Forest fruits

and currants with just a hint of toasted marshmallow. The oak is well matched with the fruit, providing great

complexity and depth. The palate is elegant and restrained with very fine tannins and excellent structure.

2014 paringa estate ‘the paringa’ shiraz, Red Hill, VIC 137.50

The palate has rich, spicy plum, blackberry and liquorice characters combined with fine grained tannins that

provide excellent structure, texture and length to this wine.

2015 d’arenberg ‘the dead arm’ shiraz, McLaren Vale, SA 176

A deep, rich, full-bodied Shiraz that spent time in equal parts French and American oak. Great intensity and a

fabulously sweet nose of blackberries, cassis, earth and oak.

2013 penfolds st henri shiraz, Barossa Valley, SA 187

Deep red with a purple rim and quite dense. Rich ripe blood-plum aromas, richly super ripe and fruit-driven. Earthy

notes as well. Soft, rounded and grainy textured tannins. A touch of alcohol in the middle and good length. Rounded

and soft in shape and texture.

2016 mitolo ‘jester’ cabernet sauvignon, McLaren Vale, SA 77

Full-bodied and mouth filling with juicy red cherry, blackcurrant and cassis. Intertwined with savoury dark chocolate

and tobacco. The Amarone component adds to a textured finish with great length and savoury tannins.

2014 Hollick ‘ravenswood’ cabernet sauvignon, Coonawarra, SA 97.90

A wine of genuine class and structure showing great depth and length of berry fruit flavour integrated with fine

grain tannins.

2015 VAsse felix cabernet sauvignon, Margaret River, WA 99

A plump entrance and fruity core lead to building fine, ripe tannins. A line of fresh red-berry tang, reminiscent of

dried cranberry and blackcurrant flavours, is followed by notes of dry sweet biscuit, chocolate, iron and spicy oak.

2015 zerella ‘la gita’ nero d’avola, McLaren Vale, SA 63.80

Nero d’Avola [Black of Avola] a native grape variety of Southern Italy, also thrives on the McLaren Vale coast on a

sundrenched site in sandy soils. Seductive Blackforest cake and spicy Kirsch aromas, support a rich, fleshy medium to

full bodied wine, hallmarks of Nero d’Avola.

2018 the cloak sangiovese, King Valley, VIC 66

Soft and fleshy, loaded with cherries and wild raspberries, dark chocolate and earthy undertones. A juicy palate

with a velvet underlay and silky tannins, balanced by a long savoury finish.

2017 tokar estate pinot noir, Yarra Valley, VIC 77

The nose is dark, brooding and savoury as we expect from this part of the Yarra Valley but flecks of bright cherry and

roses flash through providing relief. There’s a creaminess to the palate that works well with the fresh strawberries,

raspberry fruit and smoky black tea.

2014 glaetzer-dixon ‘REVEUR’ pinot noir, Coal Valley, TAS 104.50

A rich and complex wine; represented by the grapes being sourced from selected growers with a passion for

The palate is tight and structured with black olives, tobacco, blackberry and boysenberry.

Blueberry colour, blueberry aroma - together with classic Malbec mulberry, wild cherries and wafts of violets. The

palate is generous and well-structured.

This wine has great structure, intense red colour with violet tones and a powerful nose. Essences of cherries and

black plums are accompanied by a touch of white pepper. The very long and well-balanced taste culminated the

tasting of this great wine.
