Borneo Child Aid Society

Borneo Child Aid presently operate more than 100 Learning Centres in cooperation with major plantation companies with free daily education for over 8000 children of plantation workers and other underprivileged children in remote areas of Sabah, Malaysia.

We are providing a basic primary education for these children, who would otherwise be deprived of education, so that they may grow up to be fully participating citizens.

Help us to give the children an education and a chance for a better future.

Plantation Kids at our learning centres enjoy a good primary education. Newly built Learning Centre at PPB/Wilmar

We need support for this pressing social obligation towards the children growing up oil palm plantations and other remote areas.

Thousands of children live in remote areas of Sabah without access to education for reasons of poverty, distance and legal status.

Borneo Child Aid Society aim at providing these children with the basic primary education, which all children according to the UNs Child Rights Convention have an unquestionable right to.

Providing education for these children is also an important contribution to social sustainability in production of palm oil.

Plantation kids happy about their school life. Many children still have no access to schools.

Borneo Child Aid Society is operating Learning Centres with permits from the Ministry of Education, Kuala Lumpur and with assistance from the Indonesian Government in the form of teachers to help our programme. Funding is primarily from socially responsible companies and donations from the Embassies of Finland and the Netherlands as well as private persons.

Malaysia is a fast progressing nation with big improvements of living conditions and better education for its people. The palm oil industry is a major part of this development in Sabah. But the children of mostly Indonesian and Philippine immigrant workers do not have the access to education, which all children are supposed to according to the UN's Convention “The Rights of the Child”.

Our project is purely humanitarian and with focus on education. We aim at reaching the most needing children with our learning centres and thereby help to contribute to the fulfillment of the UN’s child rights convention.

An effective Education Program for underprivileged Children funded mainly by Corporate Social Responsibility and other Donations: The basic cost of running a Humana Learning Centre with 50 children is 1500 M$ (400 US$) per month or 18000 M$ per year. This is a cost of 30 M$ (8 US$) per child per month for providing these children with a basic education. We need sponsorships for many children, and with more funds we will be able to provide better materials and education for the children. If you or your company or association would like to sponsor a learning centre or a number of children please contact us. Any donation or contribution is welcome. One years sponsorship covering 50 children’s education is M$18,000.00

One year complete schooling per child costs M$ 360 (96 US$)

Support from Finland and from Indonesia Our projects are receiving important support from the Embassies of Finland and the Netherlands as well as important help in form of teachers sent by the government of Indonesia.
