12th century. The first church was burnt down in 1380, but it was rebuilt shortly after it burnt down.

Christiansborg Palace

Christiansborg’s Palace’s story is over 800 years long. It can be found on Slotsholm in Copenhagen, Denmarks capital. Today the castle contains premises for the Danish Statsministerie, the Royal Family, the Supreme Court and the parliament. Many parts of Christianborg Palace are open for the public.

The first castle on Slotsholm was built by Absalon, the bishop of Rosklide. The castle was conquered in 1368 by the Hanseatic League. They tore it down the year after. The years after that, a new castle was built on Slotsholm. It was called Copenhagen’s Castle. In 1730 the Danish king, Christian the sixth, began to tear Copenhagen’s castle down. He wanted to build a new castle on Slotsholm, which he would name after himself; Christianborg Palace. The castle was done in 1740.
