Do promoted tweets work?

Washington Post used Promoted Tweets during the election to aim traffic at its coverage.

It reported a 9% engagement rate for people who saw it which is higher than most advertising on the web.

Most Internet marketers see the average click-through rate for an online display ad to be less than 1%.

Twitter personalization is coming soon

Source: http://www.pcworld.com/article/211768/twitters_challenge_personalization_cofounder_says.html

"With 100 million tweets flowing through the system on a daily basis, there's something for everyone, but the real challenge is finding the most valuable stuff for

you. That may be an alert from a business about something you want to buy, it may be

something from a friend, it may be something in the news, and finding that and doing that in real time is incredibly hard, but that is where the real value is going to

come from.”- Twitter Co-Founder, Evan Williams

“We can make it easier for people to connect with the professionals working in a lot of fields in order to make change happen.

There are a million different groups out there working day in, day out to provide healthcare or education services, or do good government work and I think that our challenge is not to use social media to reinvent the engagement paradigm, but instead to support the work of

the people who are out there getting the job done, day in, day out.”- Facebook co-founder, Chris Hughes
