FAQ - 001: Note of Krishnamurthy Paddhatti(KP )

In ‘ Bhagwad Geeta’ Lord Shree Krishna has statedthat before birth itself, every native has beendestined for all fortunate/unfortunate events which

will occur in his/her life. Through KP Astrology, ithas now become possible for any person (not onlyan astrologer) to pinpoint factual favourable/unfavourable events in the life of a native alongwith the timing details for materialization/fructification of such event.

KP system of astrology has been propounded by thegreat Late Professor K.S. Krishnamurthy and it wascoined as „Krishnamurthy Paddhatti‟. This systemof astrology propagated the use of Placidus housesystem, KP Ayanamsa, Nirayana position of cusp,Ascendant inturn of Moon, Subdivision of

constellation into Subs, Significators and RulingPlanets theory to make the prediction scientificallytrue. With the use of KP, one can make predictionsof results of any event within few minutes, whether

The crux and deliberations of the Paddhatti (KP) isenumerated in the Six Readers written by Gurujiwhich is the only marvelous work on KP system ofAstrology.

FAQ - 002: What are the unique features ofKP System of Astrology?

The following are the unique features of KP systemof astrology:-

Ascendant more power than Moon Lagna: KPstates that the Birth Lagna is more powerful thatMoon Lagna, because in horoscope of twins, moonremains in the same degree and minute while thereis a change especially in the sub level as

propounded in KP.

KP Ayanamsa: System uses K.P. Ayanamsa asopposed to Lahiri Ayanamsa mostly used in VedicSystem. The difference between these two ishowever about 6 arch-minutes only. Ayanamsaother than K.P. when used, it will not be useful for

predictive purposes.

Placidus house division: In KP one shouldremember that since a cusp extends from one signto another, the ownership/lordship of a house is theowner of the sign where the cusp falls, irrespective

of its extension to other house (sign). This is veryimportant in KP. Each bhava from cusp to cusp is

never full of 30:00 degree. It may range from morethan 30:00 degree or may be less than 30:00 degree.Hence, the word bhava was found and observed. KPuses Placidus House division, like Westernastrology, using Cusps that is house/ bhava

beginning as opposed to Vedic System whichuses House Centre‟s.

Source-Effect-Result: The planet in its Dashagives results as per its Star-Lord rather than the

planet itSelf-. Hence Planet represents the source,its Star-Lord represents the effects and the Planet'sSub decides the final result, favourable or

unfavourable.

Sub Division: KP system gives importance to theConstellations and their divisions into further 9subdivisions called 'subs'. These sub divisions arenot equal in size, but are based on VimshotthariDasha System.

Significators: A Planet will become the significatorto the house occupied by its constellation lord andthe houses owned by the constellation lord. Thetenant planet, that is known, as the “significator”will come to pass through and indicate such matters

depending on the sub portion of the constellationoccupied by the tenant planet.

Benefic and Malefic: It is also worthwhile notingthat the planet which is considered to be a benefic

by lordship offers the results signified by it, throughthe planet deposited in its constellation. Beneficial

planets offer their results through the depositors intheir constellation, only when the sub is alsogoverned by a benefic. If the sub is ruled by amalefic the depositors cannot bring out favourableresults.

Ruling Planets: Unique master guide in KP whichhelps us in ascertaining and fixing actual time forfructification of a favourable/unfavourable event.RP is also used for correcting birth time.

Vimshotthari Dasha System: KP system likeVedic Astrology also follows only VimshotthariDasha System to pin point the exact time of events.

ASCENDANT OR LAGNA IN KP

FAQ – 003: Define Ascendant?

The AS is an imaginary point which will rise on thehorizon in the east at the place of birth or at the

place of judgement.

The distance of each house from the ascendant will be more or less equal and it is quite surprising tonote that how these imaginary points of the twelvehouses exert a great influence upon the life of anative/querrent.

FAQ - 004: Is House and Sign ofAscendant fixed in Charts?

In case of Natal Charts, Ascendant positioningdepends upon the date, time and place (latitude andlongitude). But in case of Horary Charts,Ascendants are fixed with respect to signs in whichthey have been allotted as per the number provided

by the querrent.

Thus, in Natal charts, AS will fall in any signranging from AR to PI and the house in which itfalls will be the First House. If the AS falls in AR,then its lord will be MA and so on depending uponthe zodiac sign in which it is posited.

FAQ – 005: Why Strength of Ascendant lord

is important?

The strength of the Ascendant Lord is of primaryimportance for determining what other housessupport the native/querrent.

For example: If the Ascendant lord is strong, thenthe native/querrent will achieve better results for theother houses under consideration also, provided theother houses support the matter through sub level. Ifthe Ascendant Lord is weak, then thenative/querrent will not achieve better results for theother houses under consideration, even if the otherhouses support the matter through sub level. If theAscendant Lord is neither strong nor weak, then thenative/querrent will achieve average results, even ifthe other houses support the matter through sublevel.

Therefore, the primary responsibility of anastrologer shall be to judge the strength of theAscendant Lord at the very beginning of the

judgement and then to use the same in knowing the

quantum of effects/results of the other houses underconsideration.

FAQ – 006: What are the level ofstrength of Ascendant Lord?

On the basis of strength and gravity the lagna lordlevels is indicated below:-

Outstanding/Strong Lagna Lord: It means thatthe lagna lord should be occupying any of thehouses 2,3,9,10,11,4, and tenanting the stars of lordof any of the houses 2,10,11.

Very Good/Medium Lagna Lord: It means that

the lagna lord not found occupying any of thehouses 2,3,9,10,11,4, but occupying any of thehouses 5, 8, 12, and tenanting the stars of lord ofany of the houses 2,10,11.

Good/Average Lagna Lord: It means that thelagna lord is occupying any of the houses 5, 8, 12and tenanting the stars of lord of any of the houses2,10, 11.

Satisfactory/Weak Lagna Lord: It means that thelagna lord should be occupying any of the houses2,3,9,10,11,4, and tenanting the stars of lord of any

of the houses 5,8,12.

Below Satisfactory/Very Weak Lagna Lord: Itmeans that the lagna lord should be occupying anyof the houses 5 , 8 12 and tenanting the stars of lordof any of the houses 5,8,12.

FAQ – 007: Do all Charts will have the similarnature of Strength of Ascendant Lord as per

above rules?

All charts will not have the same planetary positionas explained above, with respect to the level of

strength of Ascendant lord. Hence the lagna lordhas to be studied carefully with respect to thehouses it occupies, the constellation it tenants, theaspects it has, etc. and then results for the grade hasto be sorted out at an applicable and appropriatelevel.

But generally it can be concluded that Ascendantlord subjected to houses (2,10,11) indicatesfavourable strength to the native/querrent;ascendant lord subjected to houses (5, 8, 12)indicates weak level and ascendant lord subjected to

both the houses (2,10,11 and 5,8,12) indicates

average results to the native/querrent in all spheresof life.

FAQ – 008: Define Cusp?

The ecliptic is necessarily cut by the cusp lines oftwelve houses of the place. The ecliptic points at the

junction of the twelve cups lines with the ecliptic

are termed cusps of the first points of the twelvehouses.

In KP one should remember that since a cuspextends from one sign to another, theownership/lordship of a house is the owner of thesign where the cusp falls, irrespective of itsextension to other house (sign).

FAQ – 009: Define Bhava? Are eachCusp in Charts equidistant?

This is very important in KP. Each house from cuspto cusp is never full of 30:00 degree. It may rangefrom more than 30:00 degree to less than 30:00degree. H ence, the word „BHAVA‟ was observed.
