[ NARRATIVE ]

RJTHOMPSON LA ROCHE COLLEGE

Project Title:La Roche College Identity Revitalization,iPad and iPhone applications

Media Used: Adobe Photoshop CS4 Adobe Illustrator CS4

Research Criteria:Research limited to the current and past design themes and styles currently employed by La Roche College.

Target Audience:High School students aged 16-18. Parents ages 35-70.

Concept:Create a unique identity that visually suggests academic honor, historical signif icance, and religious signif icance while utilizing a clean, versatile, yet traditional design style.

Solutions:La Roche College celebrates a rich academic history amongst the Catholic population of Pittsburgh, PA and the surrounding region. However, despite how successful the school it is currently has many issues primarily regarding the identity of not just the school itself but it’s academic programs and athletic departments. The logo, for the most part, has never been changed since 1962 and as a result the college is seeing lower enrollment numbers. My responsibilities, as suggested by myself and an external marketing consulting firm, include revitalizing the La Roche College brand utilizing a compre-hensive strategic development plan and executing it.

The new logo features a traditional, yet honorable typeface in Arno Pro and it’s many variations. The line underneath the title of the col-lege has created great opportunities for the several departments to also have their own logo, as well...evidenced on the following page. Individual “petals” of the Flour-Dis-Lis graphic will be metaphori-cally representative of students, society, and academia– where the three work intrinsically to not only help the student become their personal best, but the best for the world.
