“Ahmedabad will be Maritime City Soon”

‘Gujarat and the Sea’ and ‘Gujarat ane dariyo’ books released by Vice President Dr. M. Hamid Ansari.

Bhaikaka Hall, Lawgarden was full of dignitaries and book lovers at the book release function of ‘Gujarat and Sea’ (English Edition) and ‘Gujarat ane dariyo’ (Gujarati Edition) written by Prof. Makrand Mehta and edited by Dr. Lotika Varadaranjan on Saturday. Vice President of India Dr. M. Hamid Ansari in presence of Smt. Kamladevi, Governor of Gujarat and Mr. Narendrabhai Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat released the books.

Both these editions were published by Darshak Itihaas Nidhi. Mr. Nitin Shukla, Vice Chairman of Darshak Itihaas Nidhi said that this book release also gets invitation to launch in London. In this ceremony Mr. Narendra Modi said, Gujarat contributes 90% of total cargo business of our country. He added that Ahmedabad will soon become a Maritime city by connecting Dholera – Ahmedabad as twin city, as it was dreamt by our ancestors in 1894. He also says that Gujarat will have its own ‘Gujarat Marine Engineering University’.

Governor of Gujarat Dr. Kamla thanked writer, editor as well as publisher for such a wonderful idea of exploring Gujarat. She appreciated the hard work of all the departments behind publishing this book.

Vice President Dr. Ansari said that ‘it was a great pleasure for him to be present in such a wonderful function as he himself is a writer and was a professor. He said that it is an excellent book and it includes all aspects like History, Archeology, Geology and Sociology which will help a reader to know about Gujarat. He also added that Gujarat’s Navigation Knowledge is awesome and it will help the state in exploring the longest coastline of our country.

In the end, Prof. Makrand Mehta, Dr. Lotika Varadaranjan and Dr. Madhusudan Dhanky were felicitated by the Vice President for their immense contribution.
