Don’t love me because I can take care of youwhen you grow old.

Don’t love me becausewe have a lot in common

or we can keep each other company.Don’t love me because

we are compatiblein the eyes of other people

saying how we make a lovely couple.

Love me because despiteall my setbacks and misgivings

you still want to be with mefor all that I am.

Don’t love me because I am good to you or I complete you

or that I make you laugh and I make you happy.Don’t love me becauseI am the only one who

understands youor that I don’t judge you.

Love me becauseyou want to go through

this short life of ours togetherexperiencing the worst

and the bestand yet you want to hold onto everything we believe in,

have faith on the things we areand willing to stake our lives on.

Don’t love me becauseyou like the way I smellor the way I do things

or how I get along with your friends.Don’t love me because you like looking at meand cuddling with me

when you feel like my friend.

But if you truly love me,then I am already all of that to you

and you are already all of that to me.

Love,I do not know you,you are wonderment. The poets make you beautiful, the artists give you life, who are you who call yourself that?

It is like an opening of an eye,and then the other. The break of first light- a rosebud wakes from slumber.Like waters that touches land, embodying the cold white sand. And the old man who’s longing youthwith trust upon his aging hand.

Though I do not know you,I feel you.And that is more than what I can do,more than I really need to.For when I fall in loveI know it comes from little places of the heart;that others have experienced too.

You are what marvels me,you make up for my jaded soul. You embrace beauty, where nothing grows weary and old.

I hear a little night musicwhen my lover snoreswhen the fan echoeswhen the distant neighbor murmursto remind methat we are all connected bya flimsy thread of existence,to be among friends,to be among strangersin the circle of life.I hear a little night musicwhen the world turnswhen the climates changewhen the stars glowin darkness and in lightin silence and in babelin wake and in sleep.I hear a little night musicwhen my baby crieswhen the cat purrswhen the dog whimpersin their sleepin their dreamin their innocenceI leave them kissesI leave them embracesI leave them lovefor another day.

If I love you darling ...

I’ll love you

till the cows come home,

till the bees live alone,

till the fish stop swimming

and the birds start feeding

on leaves & twigs & roots.

Till the elephants easily forget

& the zebras lose their stripes

& not a sound from the bats

that’s how much I’ll love you,

till moths don’t get attracted to light

Even when the sun sets

in the east

even when the world

has no need for peace.

I will love you still

with my whole being,

even when life has left us

nothing more to dream.

I will still love you

because I do,

For love is always alive

when you know its true.

Page 6: Book of Love

I don’t want to fall head

over heels in love with you

at first sight.

I want to love you everyday

for the rest of my life.

I want to discover you

and find out who you really are

every chance we spend together.

I want to know

your aspirations in life.

I want to feel your joy and pain,

fear & anger.

And I want to be there

when you go through changes.

But most of all

I want to love you more

each day

because of the adventure

that we take together.

I want to fall in love

with you again and again

and not run out of reasons.

Walk with you on the journey

and love the moments.

Will you love a manwho plays you like a violin,

a cello or a fiddle?Or will you let him

beat you like a drum?Would you prefer

to be caressed like a pianoor be strummed like a guitar?

Manipulated like a fluteor blown like a tuba?

Will his touch make musicwith your soul?

Or will it stopat the rhythm of your body?

How do you want him to play you?Or do you want to be played at all?

Does his presence make you sing the blues,or something smooth and jazzy?Does he make youwant to be a dance numberor does he make you classic rock?Is his being with youa new age experienceor is it like ambient whispersfor chilling out?How will your man bein the quiet of the night, and cacophony of the day?How will you beto his strings, and synthesizers, horns and percussions? Will you be a jarring noise? What music do you want to play?

If I can see you

beyond sight

and hear you

beyond hearing

and all my other senses

shut down completely

and yet I still feel

you in my heart ...

then I know

I love you beyond comprehension,

beyond translation,

beyond conditions

we think make perfection.

Then I’ll know I am

in love with you

wholeheartedly

without reservations.

Love must be blind in order to make us see.

Love must be deaf in order to make us hear.

Love must be dumb in order to make us speak.

Love must be flavorless in order to make us taste.

Love must be numb in order to make us feel.

I love youfor no reason at all.

I don’t need to knowthat you move my world

or still my heart.I don’t need to know

how good you lookand how good we can be.

I love youbecause I just do.

You don’t needto prove yourself

with gifts for me to store. You can just hold me

and say nothing more.We don’t have to

go and do things lovers do,we don’t need an occasion

to tell us how we feel.

A walk in the parkwith you in my arms,a cuddle in the darkor dancing in the sunis good enough for us to get by.For I’ll just love youthe way you love me,the way we love to walk in the rainand look at clouds while lying on our backs, and the thought of riding trains.Take the dog for a driveand get nostalgic with moviesand spend some quietnessthen talk of life’s mysteries.I love you for all theseand none.I love youfor no reason at all.

My morning tea is with

a little dew drop from the leaf,

some sweetener from the nectar,

fragrance from the flowers,

freshness from the air,

a tinge of bitter from the soil,

some warmth from the sun,

and most of all ...

your wonderful company

by my side.

How should love be when it comes to falling in love?

Should it take us to new dimensions of experiences

or should it turn our world upside down?

Are there age limits and time constraints?

Must the two people in love be absolute and committed

or can it be something that is still free from bonds?

Will there be stars at night and sunshine by day

or will it just rain out reality in a way?

Should there be a guiding light at the end

or would we walk into darkness trying to figure out a plan?

When love hits us in the face and hands and heart,

and body and soul and mind

will we be able to survive and still come out alive?

I wonder how it should be -

like a dream come true or a fairy tale?

Page 13: Book of Love

13

Like the world stops revolving and head starts spinning?

If love is so good and wonderful

would we still need other things in my life?

Will anyone else matter and will there be anything else to discover?

When we fall in love

are things going to be all up in roses

or do we have to find them in a bed of thorns?

Should we say yes immediately

or should we play the game to wait and see?

Sometimes we think we know what love is

but sometimes it fools us again and again

with tricks of its own

and then throws us off balance

with new deceptions and pranks.

We tell ourselves not to walk into it foolishly,

never again will we be ensnared recklessly,

and then comes along someone who triggers off our desire

stirs up our pleasure,

drowns us with miraculous water

and there we go again falling down on our face

asking the same question of how love should be.

Page 14: Book of Love

14

It’s as good as any when you have none,

or you can be grateful even with just one.

Praying to the stars and heavens above,

will not make any difference if you don’t know love.

So alone in the wilds, like a meek little child, springing high and free...trudging home.

I can roar like the wind, blowing cool and supreme,to a place across the meadows...flying home.

Breaking out of the storm,to a place that is warm,it is me...coming home ... to you.

My breasts are pillowsto my lover. My stomach ishis resting place. My arms are a blanketto his sorrows, and his dreamsare buried in my face.My legs are a bolsterto his energies. My back is a comforterto his bones. My pudenda ishis wayward fantasies, and my mystical touchkeeps him home.I am a womanto his body.I am an angelin his world.I am a sinnerin his ecstasy,I am a mattressto his soul.

Love has a lovely way of finding you

if you let it.

It comes to your dream in the scheme of things

if you want it.

It wakes you up from your unconsciousness

so that you'll be

a part of true love and much more

if you just let yourself go.

I promised myself tomorrow’s dancewhen I find the right man,but today I missed that chancewhen I could have danced with friends.

I promised myself tomorrow’s dancewhen I find the time, but today I missed that chancewhen the moment could have been mine.

I promised myself tomorrow’s dancewhen I have the space, but today I missed that chancewhen I could have come out of my daze.

I promised myself tomorrow’s dancewhen I can find a reason, but today I missed that chancewhen I could have enjoyed all the seasons.

I promised myself tomorrow’s dancewhen I hear the laughter I long for,but today I missed that chancewhen I could have started by opening the door.

I promised myself tomorrow’s dancewhen I see the sun shine through, but today I missed that chancewhen I could have dance in the rainfall too.

I shan’t promise myself tomorrow’s danceand wait till I turn blue,so today I will not miss that chanceand I’ll start dancing with you.

To the sweetest man I know,I write this letter to remind youthat I have loved many loversbut I have never loved you any less.I have been around the worldand find when I'm with you is best. You may not hold the titlefor man of the yearbut you are my only idoland you are everything I hold so dear. You may not think sweetness count for muchor the fact that I am mercurial like the wind,or when how I get swept off my feet and suchbut I still come back to you on a whim.I can get high on a can of beerand end up in some strange, forbidden bed.But I love you like unfounded fearI would rather have tea with you instead. My wild and partying days have just begunI cannot tell a lie.You will always be the onewhom I can confide in when I sober up and cry.I know it's asking for too muchif I wanted you to staybut you know I'll always want you after my sordid reckless days. You're the sweetest guy I knowwho is sweeter than a honey bee.Would you rather you don't knowor would you rather be with me?

They say, when you find someone who is so right for you, so real to you, you never let him go. But I say otherwise. I say let him go to the ends of the continents from the brightest day to the darkest night if you truly love him. Let him take with him your love in search of the bitterest sorrow to the most intoxicating joy. From the sweetest affection to the most passionate heartbreak. If you love him you will always have a place for him in your heart and no distance, no space can take that away.

When he's tasted life's adventure for all the good and all the bad he's encountered, if your love holds true, he will know it's you he wants to come home to. And if you believe in that love, you will receive him with a heart so boundless and you will be able to take in everything that he is, he was and he will be just as he will always carry your love with him wherever he goes for as long as the two of you know the mystery of this truth.

The thought of you coming home to me everyday after your business with the world is a wonderful surprise. The thought of you lying next to me in your sleep while you dream, is beauty to my eyes. The thought of you conversing with me when we are together or enjoying the silence is music to my ears. The thought of your scent in my room and among my things is aroma to my breath. The thought of your presence in body or in spirit is slow dancing on my mind. The thought of your lips on mine and everything I hold is the sweetest taste to my soul.

His eyes say lovebut he doesn't show it.His body speaks of affectionbut he feigns a laughter. His gesticulations are sweetbut he's mindful in character.Should I ask himfor want of his company instead?I am no more the school girlI am no more dizzy, dreamy and helpless. The time for a woman is short, when she knows she is in love again.Gone are the daysof love letters and serenades.Secret rendezvous andprivate escapades.I am his breakfast friendand his conversational companion.Someone to share thoughtsand joys of reunion. But a woman's heart is waryand light in fairy talesshe is all femininewhen it comes to love and thrills. He sits with me with his desires glowing. He walks closely but not quite touching. He smiles a smilethat's always been inviting. For a woman to be in loveshe has to do a lot of thinking.

If you try

to win over someone's affection

then that person's love

is not worth having.

Someone who loves you, just do,

someone who doesn't. isn’t looking.

If you have to win love to get love,

then chances are

you may also lose it someday

to the birds.
