Dai primi anni ‘70 ad oggi l’azienda traccia un pre-ciso percorso, instaura un intenso dialogo con la contemporaneità e diventa uno dei punti di riferi-mento nel panorama del design. Strategica è la collaborazione con Piero Lissoni, che dal 1988 ne orchestra lo stile unico nel duplice ruolo di art director e designer. Hanno collaborato con l’azienda personalità quali Shiro Kuramata, Francesco Rota, Arik Levy, Claesson Koivisto Rune, Junya Ishigami, Harry&Camila, Nathan Yong, che ne condividono il tratto e l’approccio progettuale. Coffee table composed by 4 or 6 cylindrical tops ø 30cm, turned in plans of 3mm, welded together. Legs in steel tubes, welded to the tops. Tavolo in plexiglass. Piano ricavato dalla lavorazione con macchina a controllo numerico a 5 assi di una lastra di Plexiglas® GS colato, da 2000x3000mm e spessore di 70mm. Lavorazione di oltre 30 ore per 2 operazioni di sgrossatura e 3 di finitura a cui si aggiungono altre 2 lavorazioni di levigatura e 3 di lucidatura (pasta abrasiva, cera lucidante e polish di finitura), eseguite manualmente, per ulteriori 20 ore di lavorazione. I fori passanti per l’innesto delle gambe all’interno del piano sono ottenuti dalla mac-china, per interpolazione. Le gambe sono ricavate da 3 Cilindri colati in Plexiglas® GS, lavorati a macchina per ottenere il ribassamento che permette l’innesto al piano, a cui si aggiungono le lavorazioni di levi-gatura e lucidatura eseguite a mano. Risultano 3 gambe diverse per innesto e inclinazione da terra.

Top created from a large sheet of cast GS Plexiglas® (2000x3000mm, and 70mm thick) using a 5-axis numerical control machine. The process takes over 30 hours, and involves two rough-hewing and three finishing operations, followed by a further two smoothing procedures and then three polishing procedures (using abrasive paste, polishing wax and finishing polish), performed by hand, and requiring another 20 hours’ work. The holes for the insertion of the legs into the table top are made in the CNC ma-chine by interpolation. The legs are made using 3 cast GS Plexiglas® cylinders, machine-processed to shape the part that slots into the table top, after which they are smoothed and polished by hand. The three resulting legs are all different due to angles at which they are inserted and positioned.
