DAYS 1/2 ~ USA/JOHANNESBURGD’OREALE GRANDE (Meals Aloft; D)Get set for your adventure as you board your overnight flight to Johannesburg, where you will be met and escorted to your hotel. Welcome to Jo’burg, as the locals say. Gold was discovered in the adjacent Witwatersrand area in 1886. Its nickname, “the Rand”, is also the name of South Africa’s official currency.

DAYS 3/4/5 ~ MAUN/MAKGADIKGADI/NXAI PANS/KHUMAGA VILLAGELEROO LA TAU (B,L,D Daily)Fly to Maun and board a light aircraft to Leroo La Tau at the edge of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, named for ancient Lake Makgadikgadi, which disappeared thousands of years ago. What remains is a collection of salt pans that cover approximately 6,200 square miles due south of the Okavango Delta. Next day, drive to Nxai Pan National Park. The available activities at Leroo La Tau give travelers the opportunity to explore the majority of the area. These include game drives, night drives, and boat cruises on the Boteti River. Year round, small populations of springbok, giraffe, and gemsbok can be found. On your last day, drive to the nearby Khumaga Village for an enlightening cultural experience. An open-air dinner with traditional storytelling will bookend your day.

DAYS 6/7 ~ OKAVANGO DELTA CAMP OKAVANGO (B,L,D Daily)Fly to the exceptional Camp Okavango. Activities here center around mokoro (dugout canoe) rides, boat excursions, and walking safaris. See the delta from water level and relax as you glide through quiet, reed-lined channels. Pel’s Fishing Owl and Wattled Crane are observed regularly in the area. In all, more than 600 species reside within the 7,000 square miles of islands, marshes, flood plains, and channels of which the Okavango is comprised. Feel the beat of Africa beneath your feet on a walking safari, and take a boat through the reeds to spot elephant, red lechwe, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, baboon, monkey, warthog, and buffalo, along with major predators such as lion, leopard, and hyena. If you are lucky, spot the elusive sitatunga antelope, which have been known to sleep in the water, with only their nostrils resting above the water’s surface.

DAYS 8/9 ~ MOREMI GAME RESERVECAMP XAKANAXA. (B,L,D Daily)Take a quick flight to Xakanaxa camp in the Moremi Game Reserve. Moremi occupies an area where the life-giving waters of the Okavango River give way to the arid expanses of the Kalahari Desert. In the open grassland portions of the reserve, the elusive wild dog uses its wiles to capture a meal, while the cheetah relies on its prodigious speed. You may be

lucky enough to see both. Activities here include game drives by open land cruiser, and boating up channels and across lagoons, all the while viewing the goings on of the delta residents: a hippo watches you from a deep pool, young baboons race around a sausage tree, a Lilac-breasted Roller flits from branch to branch. Return to camp for lunch and do it again in the afternoon as the nocturnal civets, genets, servals, and aardwolves begin to wake up.

DAYS 10/11 ~ KASANE/CHOBE GAME LODGE CHOBE GAME LODGE. (B,L,D Daily)Fly to Kasane and transfer to Chobe National Park, where you will spend the next two days on wildlife viewing and boat activities. A major feature of Chobe National Park is its overabundance of elephant, often seen at the river front, bathing in the water. It is the second largest park in Botswana, and the first declared national park. Keep an eye out for some of the most incredible wildlife Africa has to offer, from the gentle, towering giraffe to the daring flight of the African skimmer.

DAYS 12/13 ~ VICTORIA FALLS, ZIMBABWESTANLEY & LIVINGSTONE. (B,D Daily)Head to Zimbabwe, and the mighty Victoria Falls. Your visit will include a tour of the falls on the Zimbabwe side and an afternoon sundowner cruise where you will glide along the Zambezi River, watching hippos snort, elephants drink on the riverbank, monkeys jump from branch to branch, birds fly overhead, and much more.

DAYS 14/15 ~ VICTORIA FALLS/JOHANNESBURG/USA (B, Meals Aloft)Enjoy a last wildlife run this morning and a hearty breakfast before flying back to Johannesburg via Maun, where you connect with your overnight flight to the U.S.A., bringing home with you the memories of all the wonderful sights of Southern Africa.

Desert Sunset, Delta DawnBotswana

Adventure is wrapped in luxury in Botswana, where you wing your way from camp to camp on small planes. No lines, no check-in, just the cheerful hello of the pilot as he tosses your duffle in the back of your “taxi in the sky”. Visit the Kalahari Desert and the otherworldly Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, where a glowing, white expanse of natural salt deposits create glittering mirages that seem to reach out into the horizon. Nearby the Nxai Pans are home to an array of vegetation and incredible wildlife, including lion, zebra, giraffe, elephant, and more. Take in the stunning view over the Okavango; a wetland wilderness of looping channels, islands forested with palms, and wide, grassy floodplains before your finale at the crashing majesty of Victoria Falls.
