GENERAL MANAGER GRADUATE PROGRAMME

What does it involve?

This is a two-year programme, which gives graduates the opportunity to do four six-month placements across the company.

So, you may spend time working in departments like Customer Experience or HR in our King’s Cross office, then move on to our depot in Leyton.

Some graduates also do placements in France, working in our Paris office or our control room in Lille.

Throughout the programme, you’ll be mentored by our brightest and best managers, who’ll help you discover which position you’re most suited to.

Who are we looking for?

You’ll have completed your degree, and you’ll come to this role with passion, dedication and enthusiasm.

You’ll also be resilient with lots of personal ambition, which will drive you to do the best you can for the company.

And you’ll be comfortable working on your own and finding your own solutions, as well as working with data to draw conclusions.

If you can speak French, that would be a bonus, but it’s not essential – and many of our previous graduates have only spoken one language.

ENGINEERING GRADUATE PROGRAMME


This is a two-year programme accredited by the Rail Delivery Group, which provides a great route to achieving Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer registration with the Engineering Council UK.

You’ll be mainly based in our Engineering Centre in Leyton, working on projects with our Mechanical and Electrical engineering teams. Your responsibilities will involve a mix of office-based and operational activities.

Through a variety of internal and external placements, you’ll become skilled in the fields of traction and rolling stock engineering, maintenance, operation, specification and procurement. You’ll also be supported by an external mentor from the Rail Delivery Group.

(Please note that you might be required to work some night shifts.)


You’ll have completed a degree that’s accredited by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) or the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). A degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering is preferable, but we’ll happily receive applications from other engineering disciplines.

You’ll naturally have a genuine enthusiasm for engineering and a good grip of the fundamental principles. And you’ll have a strong sense of personal ambition, which will drive you to succeed and to make connections across the company. You’ll also be dedicated, resilient and comfortable finding solutions on your own.


MEET OUR GRADUATES


During our two-year rotational development programme, you’ll be exposed to a range of different data sets in up to four different business areas and will be primarily based at our Head Office in King’s Cross, London.

You’ll apply analytical and problem-solving skills working across departments including Digital, Marketing, Data & Insight and others whilst learning about the latest tools, technology and testing different techniques. Such experiences will give you the opportunity to dive into the world of Big Data, and understand data architecture, web analytics, modelling, customer insights, data science, visualisation and storytelling. As part of the programme, you’ll also have the privilege of being mentored by our best and brightest managers.


You must have a bachelor’s degree or higher to apply. A degree in one of the following areas is preferable, but we’d be happy to receive applications from other disciplines:

• Maths• Statistics• Data science • Computer science• Engineering• Science (economics or sociology)

Please note that if you have a non-quantitative degree, you’ll need to demonstrate strong quantitative know-how through work experience or other extracurricular activities.

You’ll have a natural flair for analytical and logical problem solving, strong numerical skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. You’ll be able to articulate numerical concepts to a non-numerical audience and you’re comfortable working autonomously and finding solutions for yourself. And you’ll want to have a real impact on the business through working on exciting projects, gaining exposure to departments and helping demonstrate the power of data in adding commercial value to the business and influencing decision making.

DATA GRADUATE PROGRAMME New

AamirCity University London, Electrical and Electronics Engineering‘This is a great graduate scheme because not only do we work on the trains, but we’ve also helped out in the stations and completed external placements at places such as Network Rail (HS1), a diesel depot, and completed courses on things like welding and signalling.

‘My favourite part has been actually getting to work on the trains, and I’m also really looking forward to our train driver experience.’

ColeUniversity of Exeter, BEng Mining Engineering‘When we joined Eurostar, we had the choice to go down the route to become a Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer. Aamir and I chose the Chartership route and as a result we’re both members of the IMechE.

‘I’m really glad I joined Eurostar and I am enjoying the graduate programme immensely, particularly working on the shop floor (on the trains), learning

more about the systems and how they interact with each other.’



You’ll be joining us on an exciting journey as a graduate developer on a 4-year structured growth programme. As part of a small team of graduates, you’ll have the opportunity to rotate between fully autonomous agile teams who are responsible for building innovative products such as Eurostar.com, our Mobile App, Hotels & Packaging, Voice, Chatbot and more. You’ll be supported and trained on various aspects of the role. You’ll be assigned a buddy, in addition to your line manager, and you’ll work alongside experienced developers and other key people in the business to ensure you get maximum exposure.

You’ll help shape our digital products by working closely with the design team delivering rich, responsive transactional applications across multiple devices and building highly transactional microservices to support our architecture. Building a beautiful and effective UX supported by performant APIs will be key to the success of the company’s service and your team would have a pivotal role in making this a reality.

You’ll be working on a pure JavaScript web stack, ensuring your architecture is highly testable and every step of the process is repeatable and automated.


You’ll be a good communicator, a great team player with a curious and creative mindset, solutions oriented and able to demonstrate a passion for innovation and technology. We’re looking for someone with:

• Commercial/personal experience with React.js and/or Typescript

• Very good Knowledge of OO / JavaScript / ES7 / ES8

• Knowledge and understanding of microservices architecture

• An understanding of the principles and practices of SSR/Isomorphic apps

• HTML5 / CSS3 / SASS• An understanding of the principles of

design, UI, and user experience• Knowledge of SDLC using Scrum and/or Kanban• An understanding of the difference between

Unit testing / Integration testing / BDD / TDD• Use of SCM systems such as git and GitHub• Cloud hosting experience on AWS,

Heroku and Knowledge of CI principle

Other desirable skills include: • Experience gained in a Sandwich

year placement, personal projects or previous experience

• Experience of mobile app development for IOS and android, particularly React Native

• Awareness of CI tools such as CircleCI, Jenkins
