A MESSAGE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE

DIRECTOR

We all miss seeing you and look forward to welcoming you back to The Joslyn Center. I hope you are all well and dealing with this unparalleled health crisis by staying healthy and keeping as active and engaged as possible. Here at The Joslyn Center we have been continuing with our essential nutrition services including Meals on Wheels, Penny’s Pantry, and our Problem Solving Strategies counseling program. If you need help with any of these programs, please let us know how we can help. I know that many of our members are worried, anxious or depressed about remaining at home and being unable to participate in their favorite exercise, activity or class. Please check out our Facebook page, website, or e--newsletter for activities you can do at home. If you would like to talk with one of our counselors through our Problem Solving Strategies program, please call the Wellness Center, 760-340-3220 x117. I would like to thank our outgoing Board President, Aurora Wilson for all her dedication, generous contributions of her time and treasure, and valued advice and support. In July, we will welcome Eileen Packer as our new board president and Beverly Fitzgerald as our board vice-president. With their broad experience on non-profit boards and in management, we will be in good hands. Barry Kaufman will remain as our treasurer with Mary Gilstrap rounding out our executive committee as board secretary. They both have been invaluable members of our team and I am happy to see them continue in these roles. Our board of directors is monitoring the health crisis closely in order to determine when it might be safe for us to re-open. Our staff is working together to make sure we are able to provide you with a safe environment when you return. In the meantime, please let us know how we can help you. If you would like to contact me directly, call 760-340-3220 x106 or send me an email at [email protected]. Stay safe, stay well, and together as we all move forward into the future.

Jack Newby Executive Director

A MESSAGE FROM OUR OUTGOING

BOARD PRESIDENT Hello everyone! This is my last column as board president. I am leaving The Joslyn Center after eight years of voluntary service with the last four as your board president. It has been an amazing journey and an honor to serve The Joslyn. I want to express my gratitude to our hardworking board of directors, executive director, staff and volunteers. I realize that these last several months have been difficult but, with your health in mind, we all look forward to the day when we can once again open our doors with a hearty welcome!

I also want to thank the cities of Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells for their continued support of the work we do at The Joslyn. Your incoming board president, Eileen Packer, will be outstanding.

Wishing you all the very best! Aurora Wilson
