The latest generation of Perkins 1103 and 1104 engines not only meet Stage 2 Tier II emission levels, but also runs quieter. Cold starting capabilities were also optimised to ensure power and performance in the harshest of environments.

The cross-flow cylinder head means the intake and exhaust manifolds are on the opposite sides ensuring no pre-heating of the inlet air. The combustion process is more efficient as the inlet air is cooler. 5-hole injectors promote fuel atomisation, fuel combustion, engine performance and fuel efficiencies. Other improvements to the new engine include a sump edge moulded carrier gasket which has greatly reduced the possibilities of any oil leaks. Integral oil cooler The engine oil cooler his located in the left hand side the cylinder block. This eliminates the need for pipes and not only reduces the risk of leakage, but also enhances the cooling capabilities. Improved efficiency and no maintenance requirements. The gear tooth manufacturing process has been enhantighter. This results in less backlash and noise. The noise in this area is further reduced with the introdtiming cover plate. A rotary type injection pump is used on both 3 and 4 cylinder models. All fuel system components are located on the left-hand side of the engine ensuring a compact fuel delivery circuit. The self-venting pumps prevent the need for the operator to bleed the fuel system. Fuel tank A large 102-litre fuel tank, that can be filled from ground level, sits neatly in front of the operator platform. A torque limiting filler cap eliminates potential over tightening and damage by the operator.

uction of a new two-piece pressed steel

Cooling system All models are fitted with a water pump that is gear driven from the timing gears and allows the pump and the fan to work at their optimum speeds. A higher volume water flow rate and a fast viscous fan provide optimum cooling to ensure efficient engine performance.

Exhaust system Two types of exhaust systems are fitted. A) ROPS. A vertical pipe through the hoodsheet with the muffler located on top of the engine. The hood can be lifted without removing the pipe B) CAB. ‘A’ post mounted exhaust for improved visibility and allows full opening front screen.

Engine oil filter The spin-on engine oil filter is easy to remove and should be changed at 500 hour service intervals. Longer servicing intervals.

ENGINE KEY FEATURES

• Latest emission compliant engines • High torque rise • Good starting torque • Large capacity fuel tank • Quiet bystander noise level • 500 hour oil change intervals

Transmission options The following transmission options are available and are subject to local market legislation.

• Synchro Shuttle transmission 12F x 12R (30 km/h) • Synchro Shuttle transmission with Overdrive 24F x 12R (40 km/h) • Synchro Shuttle transmission with Creep 24F x 12R (30 km/h)

There are 3 transmission options which allow the choice of specifying 40km/h or a creeper transmission for specialist operations. The 40km/h transmission includes a mechanical overdrive gear splitter which doubles the number of gears from 12 to 24. NOTE: There is no power shuttle or powershift function available with this range of tractors. Operating controls The gear levers are conveniently located to allow safe and easy access to the operator platform. There are three transmission controls. A) Synchro Shuttle. (Incorporates options) B) Speed lever. C) Range lever. (Non-synchronised) Main drive clutch All models are fitted with a dual plate clutch. Clutch plate diameters are: C60 Max = 11 inch (275.8 mm) C75 / 85 Max = 11 inch (275.8 mm) Optional 12 inch (304.8 mm) C95 / C105 Max = 12 inch (304.8 mm) The drive plates are made of a very hardwearing cerametalic material for a long life.

The PTO drive clutch is incorporated into the main drive clutch housing and also uses a cerametalic drive plate. PTO clutch engagement is totally independent to the main drive clutch. The tractor design allows for easy splitting at the clutch housing should the clutch need replacement.

Synchronised Shuttle All the transmission options have as standard a synchronised shuttle to ensure easy operation of directional change. The clutch pedal is depressed and the lever is simply moved into the required position. The shuttle lever incorporates a neutral position, ideal for operations that require periodic pauses. If the tractor is fitted with either an overdrive or creep transmission, selection is also made using this lever. Creeper Creep speed can be engaged for specialised operations and reduces the standard speeds by 80% allowing travel speeds to go as low as 300 metres per hour at rated engine rpm. Overdrive This transmission option provides a mechanical splitter which gives an increase of 20% in relation to the equivalent standard forward gear. This option allows 40km/h to be achieved.

Range lever The three-positioned range lever is located to the side of the speed lever. This lever is a non-synchronised change and should be carried out when the tractor is stationary. Differential lock

The front and rear differential locks are 100% locking and are simultaneously engaged by simply pressing the switch on the steering column. The easy operation encourages engagement when field conditions dictate that extra traction is required. Disengagement of the diff locks are achieved by pressing one or both of the brake pedals. Positive no slip locking

Controls The PTO system is independently operated using an engagement lever located on the right-hand side of the steering column. NOTE: It is recommended that when the PTO is not required, the engagement lever remains in the engaged position and the drive to the rear shaft is disconnected using the selection lever. Selection lever Ground speed PTO is standard on all models. The selection of independent or ground speed PTO is carried out using the lever on the left-hand side of the seat. Ground speed PTO is useful with PTO driven trailers, sprayers and other implements where it is important to keep a proportional PTO to forward speed. Depending on the PTO speed selected, the ground speed ratio is shown in the chart below.
