2007 Recruit Academy
On behalf of the men and women of the Boise Fire
Department, I am pleased to present the 2006 Annual
Report. This report highlights the many activities of the fire
department.
The biggest highlight of the
year occurred on January 23rd,
when our Paramedic Engine Company pilot project began.
This pilot project was conducted to test the
department’s ability to add advanced life support to the list of services we provide. All of our engine companies
are staffed with Emergency Medical Technicians, who are trained at the basic life support level. Now that our
pilot project has been successful, we will add paramedics to selected engine companies throughout
the City.
Our Technical Rescue Team is now operational and fully
equipped. In fact the cover photo on this report shows the Team making a dramatic rescue from a high rise
building under construction in downtown Boise. This
event was not only carried by the local media outlets, but appeared on the national news as well.
But none of the things we accomplished in 2006 would be possible without the emphasis the Mayor and City
Council place on making Boise a safe and livable community. At the Boise Fire Department, we take that
charge seriously as we strive to take care of
our citizens and visitors.
Renn M. Ross
Boise City Fire Chief
The primary mission of the Boise Fire Department is to protect and enhance the quality of life of the citizens of
Boise through a commitment to provide a highly trained and properly equipped organization.
