RYDE BOARDING HOUSES

MILLFIELD BOARDING HOUSE SPINNAKER SIXTH FORM

NEW 2021 SENIOR BOARDING HOUSEACTIVITIES

The main boarding campus is situated in over 100 acres of grounds overlooking the stunning bay at Whitecliff. Located

on the outskirts of Bembridge village seven miles from School, it allows pupils to make the distinction between school

and home. On site there is a sports hall, swimming pool, large sports fields and access to the beautiful sandy beach.

There are extensive opportunities for extra-curricular activities such as climbing, horse riding, sailing and other water

sports. Bembridge is run as a family unit that creates an environment in which boarders can flourish.

Set to open in 2021 the Senior Boarding house is an

ambitious, modern, purpose-built facility which will be able

to house up to 68 boarders in single and twin rooms, most

with en-suite facilities. Many of the rooms have breath-taking

sea views. There is a large family kitchen, various social and

study spaces and a large common room with direct access

to the garden. The house is within the School grounds so

boarders benefit from all the facilities of the School as well as

the seaside town of Ryde.

Across all boarding houses there is a varied and exciting boarder activity programme for evenings and weekends.

Activities include trips to local sites of interest, tourist attractions, sporting activities, arts and crafts, and theatre

and music events. We welcome input from the boarders when developing the activity programme, so that there is

something for everyone.

Our newly renovated Victorian villa opened in January 2020, Millfield is part of the main school campus at Ryde. The bedrooms

are either twins or triples, many with en-suite facilities. The house has a real family feel and, as with any good home, the

beautifully designed kitchen is at the heart of the house. The large sitting room and prep areas ensure that study, play and rest

are all optimised. There is a large garden with sea views and boarders have access to the school’s facilities and playing fields.

Spinnaker is a Georgian townhouse in the centre of Ryde, a short walk from the School. The house offers light and airy

study rooms overlooking the Solent and allows Sixth Form boarders the opportunity to be more independent, for example,

access to the School’s study facilities, cooking weekend meals which they eat as a family and managing their academic and

extra-curricular commitments. The hovercraft and ferry terminals are close by, providing good and quick transport links to

Portsmouth and London.

At Ryde, we pride ourselves on delivering an exceptional level of pastoral care and an emphasis on family values and well-ordered supervision. There is a varied programme to allow time for relaxation, effective study and the opportunity to try new and adventurous games, activities and trips. The boarding accommodation provides comfortable and homely bedrooms, a variety of spacious common areas and places for quiet study. This creates an environment and community where pupils thrive, enabling them to exceed their potential.

are spent with the Spinnaker boarders discussing the finer points of Philosophy and

Literature, helping them with university applications, personal statements, extended

essays and interview preparation.
