Director’s Report submitted by: Lara Lorenzi November 2019 Library Board of Trustees Meeting Informational Updates:

• The Library is once again a polling location. Election Day will take place on Tuesday November 5, 2019. That day voting will take place in the community meeting room on the lower level. We have no planned programs on that day.

• Our quarterly Reference Sampling will take place November 3rd through November 9, 2019. • The library will be closed on Thursday November 28th and Friday November 29th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We

will be open on Saturday November 30th. • I have completed and submitted the 2019/2020 Plans for State Aid. This plan lets the state know what the intended use

for their funds are for the year. This is a report that we submit each year. • I will be attending the November 21st meeting of the Kiwanis. I will be presenting to the club about the library, focusing

on youth services and materials we offer to our community. • I will be attending the Phoenixville Chamber of Commerce Gala on Saturday November 23rd. • I will be out on November 26th for a reconstructive surgery and recuperation on November 27th. I anticipate being back

to work in the office on December 2nd. If I don’t feel well enough to come into the office, I will work from home. • Our staff appreciation dinner will take place on December 11th. We are looking forward to a night of good food and

great company. Personnel Updates:

• We anticipate a new circulation assistant will begin working at the library in mid to late November Facilities Update:

• Routine maintenance has been performed by PASD. • Currently still on-going. Some of the lights in the children’s library are being replaced with brighter LED lights. This is

project has been in the works for some time and we are excited to see the lights getting swapped out. The lower level is quite dark and the new lighting really brightens up the space.

• The elevator was stuck open. PASD was called and the elevator company came out to evaluate the issues. The keys on the control panel were stuck, they recommended replacing the control panel.

• We are waiting on a part to fix our bottle filling station located in the Children’s library downstairs. The water fountain part of the station works but the bottle filling part is currently not operational.

• Light bulbs were replaced in the Director’s office and in other areas of the library. • We have had some HVAC issues in the Harrop Room. The thermostat wasn’t registering any temperature and the room

was cycling constantly. PASD came out and checked it out. They were able to fix the issue quickly and the HVAC in the room is operating correctly.

Chester County Library System Updates:

• In October the Chester County Library-Exton will be installing an outdoor locker system for patrons who wish to pick-up reserved materials after regular business hours when the library is closed. This will be an express pick-up option and items will only be held in the locker for 48 hours. At the end of that period, if the reserved items are not picked-up, the holds will expire and the patron will need to re-reserve the items. The locker will have its own location name and location code in Sierra so that when a hold is triggered for this location at your library it will print a transit slip with the location name just as would occur for a reserved item for pick-up at another member library.

• Chester County library was awarded the following PaLA Awards: Trustee of the Year: Earl Baker and Library of the Year: Chester County Library

• The 2020 County Coordination Aid budget was approved by the DLM at the October 2019 meeting. Computer updates:
