Message In consonance with its responsibility to provide opportunities for continuing professional development for its membership and likewise for all physicians interested in surgery, the Philippine College of Surgeons through its Metro Manila Chapter presents the 45th PCS Midyear Convention with the theme “Surgery and Its Complications” at the Citystate Asturias Palawan Hotel in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. This is the first time that the PCS Metro Manila Chapter will be hosting an event of this magnitude and they have decided to conduct this fittingly in the province of Palawan, known worldwide for its exotic wildlife, quaint fishing villages, and UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park and the Tubbataha Natural Park. The scientific program attacks surgical complications that confront surgeons in and out of the operating room. Prevention, anticipation, recognition and management of these undesirable events are given fresh insights with the goal of providing better outcomes for our patients. Congratulations to the PCS Metro Manila Chapter for taking up the challenge to host our Midyear Convention this year along with a promise for a most fun-filled Fellowship Night for all of us to enjoy.
GEORGE G. LIM, MD, FPCS President
Philippine College of Surgeons
Message It is with pleasure that I, on behalf of the PCS Board of
Regents, invite the community of surgeons to attend the 45th Mid-year Convention of the Philippine College of Surgeons at the Eco-tourism capital of the Philippines, the green city of Puerto Princesa, where nature begins and never ends. This is the first time that the city & the conventions’ organizers, the Metro Manila Chapter, will be hosting this annual out-of-town congress. The chapter and the CSE Committee have prepared a comprehensive & fascinating array of topics under the theme “SURGERY AND ITS COMPLICATIONS” for everyone’s consumption. This mid-year congress will also serve as a venue for several of the societies under the PCS that will be celebrating milestone anniversaries this year such as the Philippine Association of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgeons,
Inc., the Philippine Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons, the Philippine Society of Pediatric Surgeons, the Philippine Association of Head & Neck Surgeons, Inc. & the Philippine Society of General Surgeons. In addition, I hope to see the surgeons and their families enjoy the camaraderie and fellowship amongst their surgical colleagues from all over the country as well as treasure the sunny ambience of the city of Puerto Princesa and everything else the province of Palawan has to offer.
