MIKE OSTROSKI (Rob) has performed in over 75 productions as a 12 year member of The Barter Theater’s Resident Acting Company in roles such as Jamie Wellerstein in The Last Five Years and Lennie in The Barter’s National Tour of Of Mice and Men. Most recently, Mike co-starred in Breaking Bad and premiered Bumbershoot at The New York International Fringe Festival. Additionally a playwright and composer, his musical, I Can Be Anything: The Musical Legend of the

Simple Machines, opened The Barter Player’s 2009 season and his co-adaptation of Tom Sawyer toured the Southeast during the spring of 2010. His production company, Reflection Films, is currently preparing to shoot their film debut Those That Play Your Clowns. Additionally, Mike is writing The Actor’s Solution, a business of theatre and acting methodology workbook with Adam Belcuore, Director of Casting and Producing Associate of The Goodman Theatre in Chicago. Mike has attended The University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) for musical theatre, Miami University (Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, earning a degree in Creative Writing), and abroad at both Cambridge University and London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

PETER HUSOVSKY (Will) Born in Paris, France and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio this son of a Hungarian immigrant first stumbled into performing in the 5th grade when required to present an oral book report about D’aulaires’ Book of Greek Myths. To the surprise of his classmates they discovered that the then chronically shy Mr. Husovsky could indeed talk and was actually “Kind a’ funny.” Thus began a career in the Performing Arts. This is Mr. Husovsky’s sixth

show at The Public Theatre most recently appearing as Richard Fiffle in Fuddy Meers. Other favorite roles include Macbeth at The Lost Nation Theater, The Chorus in Henry V at Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, and Lord Darlington in Lady Windermere’s Fan at The Mint Theater in New York City. Other regional credits include stints at Hartford Stage, Trinity Repertory Company, and multiple seasons at The Theater at Monmouth. He has done a variety of radio and television commercials. Mr. Husovsky also writes and performs sketch comedy in NYC. Training: Trinity Rep Conservatory. Peter lives in New York City with his beautiful wife Gillian and mighty two-year old daughter Lila.

COURTNEY THOMAS (Lily) makes her Public Theatre debut with The Book Club Play. Her recent credits include Race and A Christmas Carol at the American Conservatory Theater (ACT) in San Francisco. ACT is also where Courtney recently earned her Master of Fine Arts Degree. MFA program credits include The Three Sisters (Irina), Gruesome Playground Injuries (Kayleen), and A Lie of the Mind (Beth). Courtney also holds a BFA from Howard University

where she appeared in Joe Turner's Come and Gone, Hamlet, and Oedipus Rex.

JANET MITCHKO (Jan) is happy to find herself onstage again at TPT. Over the past many seasons she’s acted in numerous TPT productions, including The Language Archive; Magnetic North; Almost, Maine; Enchanted April; Fiction; Red Herring; Three Days of Rain; Educating Rita; and Fallen Angels, among others. Before life in Maine began, Janet earned her living as an actress, acting teacher

and director in New York City as well as performing around the country at various regional theatres. Janet is currently Co-Artistic Director at TPT, and when she’s not onstage, can usually be found directing (most recently, Around the World in 80 Days, Beau Jest, etc), or helping the trains run on time. Janet is a graduate of the acting program at Carnegie-Mellon University, the proud mother of Emily, and considers TPT her artistic home.

DAVID MASON (Alex) is thrilled to be returning to The Public where he was previously seen in Around the World in 80 Days; Almost, Maine and The Last Mass at St. Casimir's. Other regional credits include: The world premiere of John Cariani's Last Gas and the world premiere of Trouble is My Business (Portland Stage); Almost, Maine (Geva Theatre Center/Syracuse Stage); The Seafarer; Red Herring;

CHRISTOPHER SCHARIO (Executive/Artistic Director) has been Artistic Director of The Public Theatre since 1993. His adaptation of A Christmas Carol, published by Dramatists Play Service in 1996, was developed for The Public Theatre and has enjoyed successful productions at professional and amateur theatres throughout the world. In New York he has directed for Roundabout

Theatre, Westbeth Theatre, Spectrum Stage, American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Drama Project and Madison Avenue Theatre. Regional theatre directing includes Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Boulder Ensemble Theatre, Kentucky Repertory Theatre, Toledo Repertory Theatre and Millbrook Playhouse. He has acted Off-Broadway, on national tours, regional theater, summer stock, dinner theater, films, soaps and commercials. He has taught at Carnegie-Mellon

University, University of Colorado, University of Tennessee, American Academy of Dramatic Arts, as well as privately in New York. He received a BFA in Acting from Ohio University and an MFA in Directing from Carnegie-Mellon University.

KAREN ZACARIAS (Playwright) Karen’s award-winning plays include The Book Club Play, Legacy of Light, Mariela in The Desert, The Sins of Sor Juana, the adaptation of Julia Alvarez’s How The Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents, and the adaptation of Helen Thorpe’s nonfiction book on immigration Just Like Us . She has done a number of TYA musicals with composer Debbie Wicks

la Puma. Karen is currently writing the libretto of The Sun Also Rises for the Washington Ballet, writing a play about the politics of immigration for the Denver Center, and beginning a Brazilian themed musical for young people. She is the playwright-in-residence at Arena Stage in Washington, DC and teaches playwriting at Georgetown University. Karen lives in DC with her husband Rett and three kids: Nico, Kati, and Maia. JAMES ALEXANDER (Technical Director) has worked on theatre, dance, and opera productions locally from Maine to Missouri, and toured nationally and internationally. He lives in Harpswell with his partner Dawn and their two sons, Max and Ewan, of whom they are abnormally proud. He has served as production manager for The Washington Revels and as master electrician at the Shakespeare Theatre Company, Washington Ballet, and Portland Stage Company. He has toured as lighting supervisor and production manager with theatre and dance companies including The Flying Karamozovs, Netherlands Dance Theatre, Suzhuo Kunju Opera of Jiangsu Province, the National Ballet of China, and, most recently, the Ballet Nacional de Cuba. He is pleased to be Technical Director of The Public Theatre. HANNAH J. BROWN (Costume Designer) This is Hannah’s first production with The Public Theatre. Past costuming credits include The Late Henry Moss (Mad Horse Theatre), Harvey and Inook and the Sun, (Sedna and the Sea Monster) both at USM. She is currently living in Portland, ME and when she isn’t costuming she is upcycling vintage gowns and clothing for her shop at Etsy.com www.estsy.com/shop/blueyedboutique! Thanks to this great cast and crew! BART GARVEY (Lighting Designer) has served The Public Theatre in one capacity or another since its first season. He holds degrees from The College of William & Mary and The University of Iowa. He is particularly proud to have worked building sets here for Indoor/Outdoor, Miss Witherspoon, Rough Crossing, Communicating Doors, Three Days of Rain, and Dracula. He has designed lights for over 50 professional productions and is particularly proud to have designed for Red; The Language Archive; Around the World in 80 Days; Humble Boy; Indoor/Outdoor; Magnetic North; Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde; The 13th of Paris; Almost,Maine; The Woman in Black; The Wind in the Willows; Red Herring; An Infinite Ache; Proof; The Pavilion; Sideman; and Three Days of Rain. Bart has also worked on productions at The Theater at Monmouth, Deertrees, Boothbay Opera, St. Lawrence, King’s Bridge, and Bates College. He thanks his beautiful and multitalented wife, Julie, for subsidizing this unplanned and otherwise impossible career in theater.

LISA BRAGDON (Stage Manager) is happy to be back at The Public Theatre after taking 6 years off to have her son Elijah. She spent 18 years as a Stage Manager in live professional theatre and has worked at The Public Theatre off and on at least that long. She has also worked at Arena Stage, the Huntington, Portland Stage, the Barter, The Theatre at Monmouth, and Mad Horse. She has spent the last 20 years guiding wilderness canoe trips everywhere from the Rio Grande in Texas to the Gaspe’ Peninsula. She lives in West Gardiner with her husband Jeff raising the next generation of guides! She is so grateful to be back doing a job she loves. AARON WATSON (Intern/Company Manager) is a native of Phippsburg, Maine on the beautiful coastline and went to school in Bath where his now long lasting love of theater began. He has gone on to study at the University of Maine Farmington. He is currently finishing up his B.A. in Theater and will graduate this December. Aaron has spent a lot of time on both sides of the stage, appearing as an actor and working “behind the scenes” stage managing, directing, designing lights and makeup, and constructing sets. Aaron would like to thank The Public Theatre for allowing him this opportunity as well as Stan Spilecki for all the encouragement he has given along the way. LARRY FRENCH (Sound) is very excited to be back for his second season working on the technical crew with The Public Theatre. He began with The Public Theatre as the Sound Operator for Around the World in 80 Days, and has worked on nearly every show since then. He has also had the opportunity to do technical work for several other local theaters including the Lewiston/Auburn Community Little Theatre, Lyric Music Theatre, Freeport Players, and Freeport Factory Stage. Through these theaters, he has worked on over a dozen other incredible performances including Rent, Jekyll and Hyde, Cinderella, The Mikado, and Peter Pan in lighting; sound design, operation, and installation; and videography and post-production technology. He would like to thank The Public Theatre for providing a venue as he pursues his love of theatre and for the supportive environment they have provided.
