Stride Release, Alumni Interaction followed with Cultural Activities May 4, 2019:
Stride magazine was released by Dr. B V Ravishankar, Principal & Dr. K Vijayakumar,
of Computer Applications department along with Alumni of MCA. Sixth and forth HOD
semester s contributed in designing, collecting articles and editing of Stride. Students
listed below were involved in collecting required articles and editing “Stride” magzine.
Magazine release event started formally with invocation by Pooja V, followed by film song sung by Jayanth, IV semester MCA students. MCA alumni Srinidhi SA, Naveen Kumar P, Bhavana Raju, Ananthamurthy S R , R Afreen Altab, Darshan Singh & Devanagowda Andnigoudru. Alumni guests Surajit Das, ShankarMurthy S R(Acted in super hit movie Kirik Party), Nakul Daga, Sumanth Revankar graced the event. Alumni addressed the students about their experiences in making STRIDE Magazine, bringing sponsorship and shared their marvelous experiences in college.
Social Activities August 19, 2018 : Computer Applications Students of third semester visited the Adamya
Chetana Kitchen at Gavipuram in Bengaluru which supplies mid-day meals to government
schools in the city. Since 2015, it became a zero-garbage generating unit with every leftover
resourcefully reused. It’s also fossil fuel-free and uses biomass and solar energy for most of its
needs. Around six and half tons of rice get steam-cooked by burning organic briquettes made
from agricultural waste. The kitchen cooks food for 72000 children from 324 schools on a daily
basis. Adamya Chetana has a stock of around 7000 steel plates, spoons and glasses which can
be borrowed by anyone free of cost.
Aug 19, 2018 : Tree Plantation was held at ESSAR Petrol Station, Near Puttenahalli Lake,
Puttenahalli Ward No.187, Bommanahalli, and Bengaluru. Shri. Sathish Reddy, MLA, Smt.
Prabhavathi Ramesh Corporator BBMP, Sri. Ramesh, Ex-Corporator, BJP Puttenahalli
Ward President and the MCA students of BMSCE participated. Around 120 saplings were
planted which includes various species (Sampige, Hebbevu, Honge and Basavanapada) were
planted on the occasion.
January 1, 2019 : Adamya Chetana organised a mega event Ananth Namana 2019, an event dedicated to pay tribute to Shri. AnanthKumar and his contributions to the society. Shri AnanthKumar, an unmatched organiser, undefeated leader, founder of Sasyagraha Green Lifestyle movement, an ever smiling and friendly human being. To mark the event seva Utsava (concept – Anantha Namana), Computer Applications first semester students and faculties joined in chorus singing of “Vandhe Matharam” and “O nanna chethana”.
The Art of Living organisation has started a movement called "Drug February 19, 2019: Free India", an integrated 360° movement to fight the drug abuse, bringing all the key influencers from multiple domains across the country under the guidance of the world-renowned humanitarian leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji. This webcast was organised at FDC, B.M.S. College of Engineering. Human Resource Development Minister Shri. Prakash Javadekar ji shared an inspiring message urging all the educational institutes across the country to join the Drug Free India movement. Hon'ble Vice Chairman, AICTE encouraged institutions to participate in this movement to help youth to overcome drug abuse and to work towards holistic development of students.
Hackathon
April 30, 2019 : Hackthon based AAT was conducted for 4th sem students of MCA. The event
will be held in ICL and FDC from 7AM to 7PM. The objective is to encourage students for a unique
type of assessment for electives, to do multidisciplinary innovative project in the domain of Internet-of-Things (IoT).
Phase Shift-2018
September 15, 2018 : Dr. Shuba V distinguished scientist, CSIR, Airport Instrumentation,
NAL, Bengaluru delivered a talk on "State of the art Made in India products for Aerospace
sector" as a part of “Space Intelligence” PhaseShift event.
September 15, 2018 :Mr. Lakshminarayan, Senior Scientist, ISRO, Bengaluru delivered a talk
on “Glimses of Indian Space Program” as a part of of “Space Intelligence” PhaseShift event.

Technical fest Phase Shift Won first prize in
the event Flick.
September 16, 2018 Mr. Abilash and Mr. Madhav Bhardwaj, students of 5th semester MCA participated in Technical fest Phase Shift 2018 hosted by BMSCE and Won Second prize in the event Space Build.
September 16, 2018 Ms. Priya G and Ms. Sushma K.S, students of 3rd semester MCA participated in Technical fest Phase Shift 2018 hosted by BMSCE and Won Second prize in the event Encrypto- Decrypto.
Placement Club :
August 18, 2018 An event was conducted, wherein students were asked to create their own
accounts in Hackerrank to solve problems in any language they are comfortable with.
August 23, 2018
Coding event is conducted in Hackerrank for
complex problems. Manasa, Pooja, Harshit and
Ramesh conducted pick and speak event to
enhance communication skills.
September 20, 2018
Avanish Kumar Giri hosted a session on
aptitude- height and distance, which was
subject under discussion for the week. A
brief introduction was given to the topic and
necessary formulas were discussed to solve
the problems.
October 4, 2018
Placement Club, Computer Applications
department organized a quiz session based on
programming, aptitude and logical reasoning
using online platform called Kahoot. This
session was handled by Harshit and Avanish.
October 4, 2018
Mr. Raghavendra Rao, Assistant Professor,
Computer Applications department gave a
brief introduction to placement club
activities. A quiz was conducted for first
semester students to select few volunteers for
placement activity club. Pooja V explained
the benefits of attending PC activities.
October 11, 2018 Pooja V, 3
rd sem MCA student handled the
session. Students were asked to solve problems
with test cases followed by quiz organized on
Kahoot. Quiz.
Harshit Jain and Avanish Giri, students of 3rd
sem MCA briefed on “how technical rounds
will be conducted at placements” for first
semester students. Students were made to
predict possible solutions for a given problem
and design test cases.
October 25, 2018:
A session on programing and various ways of
implementing the same was conducted. This
session was handled by Vardhini R , Bharath
P G , Sharmila T Harshith T and Ganesha
Srinivas. A brief introduction was given on
those programs with the related and
necessary formulas to solve those problems.
Students were made to think and analyze and
work on different types of logics that can be
used for one particular program. Students
were made to work on their systems and were
made to give all possible inputs to a program.
November 22, 2018:
Bharath, Ganesha, Harshith, Sharmila and
Vardhini handled the session on coding and
few multiple choice questions regarding C
Programming and HTML tags.
A session was conducted to create interest in
computer programming and conducted mock
Group Discussion session exclusively for
first semester students.
February 20, 2019:
A Session on Coding was conducted and asked to
solve problems
February 27, 2019: Pooja and Harshit, forth semester Computer Applications students handled the session. In this session students were told to make teams of two and start practicing problems in Codechef. They were told to increase the complexity level by one step and scores were given accordingly. All felt very interesting and challenging and were excitingly solving problems through Codechef.
March 6, 2019: Ganesha S, Vardhini R , Bharath P G , Sharmila T, Pooja Gowda and Umesh (IIsem) coordinated placement club activity, Computer Applications department. Activity was based on C /C++ coding constructs.
March 6, 2019 Pooja, Harshit and Avanish coordinated placement activity for students of fourth semester MCA. A session on Kahoot focused on basic python tricky problems, solved through Codechef.
March 6, 2019 Online Quiz was conducted by second semester students.
March 20, 2019 placement club, Computer Applications department conducted programming contest.

April 24, 2019 : An intra department coding and debugging compitetion is organized by
placement club of Computer Applications department.
June 20, 2019 : Abiramm B R, Co-founder, Ignomagine & Ramu Srinivasaiah, Founder
Director, Lekha Wireless Communications invited to department of Computer Applications, to
discuss regarding internship opportunities.
Cultural Club :
February 16, 2019: Vidya Sagar Educational Trust along with Adamya Chethana conducted a quiz for students to educate students our culture, tradition and inculcate The Nationalism. About 800 students of various branches of B.M.S. college of Engineering participated.
Febraury 20, 2019:
Since MCA students got selected in quiz competition conducted on Feb 16, they got free
ticket to watch URI movie at Gopalan Mall, Bannergatta Road from 9.30AM. During the
break time Indian Army Jawan was honored by Tejaswini Ananthkumar and S Vidyasagar,
Managing Trustee.
February 26, 2019:
As it was the first day of Cultural Activity session the Cultural Activity coordinator Prof.
Shailaja K P and Prof. Pushpa T S gave a formal introduction about the cultural activities
to be conducted in the department. Followed by the selection of student coordinator for
cultural activities was chosen.

Students enjoyed by playing “Antyaskhari” between the teams 2nd and 4th semester.
March 02, 2019: The event was started with a song by Jayant Sahu (4th sem). Followed by
formation of team for singing and dancing. Later Prajna Bhat (4th Sem) sang a melodious
song. Identify the song name which was given in English lyrics. Few students of 4th and 2nd
Semester performed dance.
March 09, 2019: As a part of Woman’s day celebration, week as a part of Spectrum week,
cultural activity was conducted which started at 11.15am in FDC. Invocation song was
sang by Prajna Bhat and Chitra Manjunath (4th Sem). Followed by a melodious solo song
by Jayant Sahu (4th Sem), Group Song by Vaibhavi, Vardhini, Pooja Gowda, and Supriya
(2nd Sem).
The activity was followed by a classical and western dance performance by Sushma G (4th Sem). The event was contined with playing of dumb charades. The session was ended with few students performing dance. Students and staff of Computer Applications department celebrated Spectrum week from 5th to 11th March to mark woman’s day celebration.
March 16, 2019 : As a part of Cultural Activity this week a Sports day was scheduled
between 2nd and 4th semester students. A cricket match was held between the teams of
4th and 2nd semester MCA students. Throw ball and few indoor games like carom, table
tennis was also conducted.
March 23, 2019 : An interactive session was organized by S Shilpa, Computer Applications department. Alumni shared their invaluable memories of student life, their journey as employees/entrepreneurs and career advancement.
