Who we are
Since 1986, BMI has organized education
events in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile,
Colombia, Ecuador, Germany, Hong Kong,
Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Panama, Peru,
Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Venezuela and
the USA.
In Latin America, BMI organizes the Salao
do Estudante Fairs in Brazil which take place
twice a year (March & September). Each
event is comprised of a series of seven fairs
in each of Brazil’s main student recruitment
markets. Over 90% of exhibitors rate both
the quantity and quality as excellent and the
fairs are renowned as the premier international
education fairs in Brazil.
As well as the largest student recruitment fairs
in Brazil, BMI organizes the Expo-Estudiante
fairs which are the leading fairs in Spanish-
BMI, which celebrated its 25th anniversary
in 2011, has been involved in organizing
international student recruitment fairs and
agent workshops on five continents.
In Latin America, BMI is the market leader
with the largest fairs both in terms of
number of visitors and the number of
participating education providers.
speaking Latin America. These take place as
a series in May and September/October each
year (in Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela & Peru)
and attract over 60,000 visitors.
BMI also organise agent workshops in Brazil,
Canada, Turkey and will start a new workshop
in China in 2013. These events are strategic
networking opportunities which introduce
educators to suppliers of international
students. The BMI Agents Workshop, Brazil is
the only workshop specifi cally for institutions
who wish to meet Brazilian student recruitment
agents. The Canada workshop is designed
for Canadian institutions who wish to meet
agencies from key markets that are sending
students to Canada.
The Global Education Agent Workshop in
Turkey is jointly organized with a2 Fairs. The
workshop will allow international education
providers to meet over 100 international
agents from 35 countries over two days in
Istanbul.
BMI also operates the Europosgrados fair in
Colombia on behalf of DAAD and Campus
France and in October 2012 will hold The
Brazil Higher Education Fair in São Paulo and
Rio de Janeiro.
In 2011, 170,000 visitors, 675 international
exhibitors from 21 countries and over 400
educational agencies participated in a BMI
event.

Over 51,000 students, parents and executives
pre-registered online and visited the fairs in
March 2012, with 98% of exhibitors evaluating
the events as excellent or good.
Every major educational agency in Brazil
participates in the event, alongside over 200
education institutions from more than 21
countries. The fairs are sponsored by the
leading education, travel and news media in
Brazil and feature in every major news program
in each fair city.
The March series is immediately after The
BMI Agents Workshop in São Paulo where
institutions can meet educational agencies
from across Brazil who fl y into São Paulo for
the event.
Now in its 17th year, Salao do Estudante
takes place twice a year in March and
September.
The events are the largest and renowned
as the best student recruitment fairs in
Brazil.
Each series takes place over a 13 day period
with the schedule allowing time for travel and
appointments between fairs.
All exhibitors have access to discounted hotel
rooms in each city and BMI can assist with
translation, printing and appointments with
agents.
Salão do Estudante presents educational
institutions with a unique opportunity to recruit
students from Brazil – South America’s leading
source of international students – through a
time and cost-effi cient circuit.
“This was the best exhibition I have ever participated in. Congratulations!”
Daiane Lagger,
Senior Regional Manager, Swiss Education Group
Now in its 15th year, Expo-Estudiante
consistently attracts students that have both
the fi nancial & academic ability to study
abroad and is therefore the fi rst choice for any
institution serious about recruiting from the
major markets of Latin America.
The events are supported by the main
government and private scholarship agencies
(Becas Chile, COLFUTURO, ICETEX,
SENESCYT and IECE) as well as being
sponsored by the leading newspapers and
web portals in each country.
The May fairs take place in Ecuador, Chile
and Colombia and are primarily postgraduate
focused. They are also suitable for institutions
offering certifi cate courses and for language

programs, as many students opt to take an
intensive course prior to their postgraduate
study.
The September/October series span across
Peru, Venezuela and Colombia, over a 14 day
period.
*The Venezuela fairs are jointly organized with
AVAA, a non-profi t organization who is an
EducationUSA advising center and a certifi ed
partner of the Canadian Embassy in Caracas.
“Fair had a great turnout - quality as well as quantity, all the staff were really helpful. The translator you provided was great. Great job overall!”
Chris Caperna,
Director Int’l. Admissions, The International Culinary Center
The fairs which take place every two years
(with the next fair scheduled for May 2012 ) are
organized in cooperation with Becas Chile –
Chile’s postgraduate government scholarship
program. The program began in 2008 and is
awarding 3,300 scholarships annually up to
2018.
The Becas Chile program underlines the
government’s commitment to educate Chileans
to the highest possible standard and the
program includes tuition fees, cost of living
expenses, travel costs and medical insurance.
Language courses are also covered under the
terms of the scholarship for those students that
may need to polish their language skills before
being able to study at the postgraduate level.
Over 90 institutions from 17 countries
including the British Council, Campus
France, DAAD, Edu-Canada, Education USA,
Fulbright Commission, Nuffi c, Universidad.es,
Ministry of Higher Education–Israel and CRUS
(Switzerland) participated in 2010.
The scholarship program and the strong and
consistent growth of the Chilean economy has
resulted in the number of students travelling
abroad increasing sharply over the last few
years.
The Expo-Estudiante Becas Chile event is
therefore a must for any institutions wishing to
recruit Chilean students.
Expo-Estudiante Becas Chile are the
most important international higher
education fairs in Chile. The 2010 event
was opened by The Chilean Minister of
Education and attracted over 15,500
visitors.
The Brazil Higher Education Fairs are your
opportunity to recruit qualifi ed undergraduate
and postgraduate candidates and will take
place in São Paulo on October 27th and 28th
and in Rio de Janeiro on October 30th. The
fairs will be preceded by The Brazil Higher
Education Workshop 2012 (October 25th and
26th in São Paulo) which is an opportunity to
form partnerships and academic links with
Brazilian Universities (see next page). The fairs
are expected to attract 13,000 pre-registered
students in Sao Paulo and 7000 in Rio.
In 2011 Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff
announced that the Brazilian government (in
cooperation with the private sector) will make
100,000 study abroad scholarships available
over the next four years in program called
`Science without Borders´. At the time of going
to print it is expected that 35,000 will be used
for undergraduate and 65,000 for postgraduate
studies. The program comes at a time when the
number of Brazilians travelling abroad is already
at an all-time high and projected to exceed
365,000 in 2012.
Senior staff from the `Science without
Borders´ program will participate in The Brazil
Higher Education Fair and workshop to form
partnerships with new institutions and to inform
potential recipients about the new scholarship
schemes. There will also be an exclusive
presentation for international exhibitors to
explain the latest developments in the program
and how they can benefi t.
In October 2012, BMI will hold Brazil’s premier
international higher education recruitment
fair which presents the perfect opportunity to
talk directly with qualifi ed students interested
in taking an undergraduate, postgraduate or
MBA course overseas.
supported by:
The Europosgrados Fairs which are operated by
BMI on behalf of DAAD and Campus France take
place annually in November and are supported by
COLFUTURO – a private non-profi t postgraduate
scholarship provider and ICETEX – a government
backed educational loan provider.
In 2011, over 75 institutions from Europe
participated in Europosgrados Colombia and the
events attracted over 12,800 students across three
cities. The fair was supported by Universidad.es
from Spain and Nuffi c from The Netherlands and all
exhibitors rated the quality of visitors as excellent
(83%) or very good (17%).
The success and popularity of these events
confi rms the huge and growing interest for
European Postgraduate programs among
Colombian students.
It is also an excellent opportunity to establish and
strengthen cooperation agreements with the best
Colombian universities, COLFUTURO and ICETEX
who have greatly increased the number of students
sent to Europe through its scholarship and loan
programs.
Europosgrados Colombia 2012 is therefore the
perfect opportunity to promote postgraduate
programs to Colombian students who are planning
to study in Europe in 2013.
Europosgrados Colombia is one of the
most important higher education fairs in
Colombia and the only one to focus on
postgraduate study in Europe.

The BMI Agent Workshops bring together
international educators and carefully screened
high-quality student recruitment agents.
These allow participating institutions to grow
international student enrolments, network with
potential new representatives and build long term
relationships.
BMI workshops always include great
opportunities to continue meetings with agents
in a more informal setting. Long networking
lunches, a welcome cocktail reception and gala
dinner party are always included in the schedule.
BRAZIL
BMI Agent Workshop
The workshop is synchronised with the Salão do Estudante fair dates and institutions participating in both events benefi t from discounted package prices.
As almost every major agency in Brazil participates in the BMI fairs we are in an informed position to be able to invite the right agents to the workshop – agents that are actively sending students and looking for new partners.
The Brazil Higher Education Workshop
Held on October 25 and 26 in São Paulo directly before The Brazil Postgraduate fairs, the workshop will allow international educators to meet directors and key staff of the international offi ces of Brazilian Universities to discuss exchange programs and form institutional partnerships. The workshop will allow time for 22 pre-scheduled meetings of 25 minutes each and informal networking over lunch and dinner with over 50 Brazilian universities.
CANADA
The BMI Agents Workshop – Canada is exclusively for Canadian education institutions to meet new agents from around the world.
The workshop is sponsored by Air Canada who fl y in 70 agents from key global markets to meet with a maximum of 40 Canadian educators.
GEAW - GLOBAL EDUCATION AGENTS
WORKSHOP
Jointly organized by BMI and a2 Fairs, the GEAW is held annually in Istanbul. Institutions can then stay on to participate in the a2 Fall circuit of student fairs in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.
Over 100 agents are expected from Europe, Asia, Latin America, Middle East and North Africa. This means there will be a signifi cantly larger number of agents than schools. In addition to the workshop and spectacular networking functions, participating institutions will be able to keep abreast of the latest news in informative seminars on key international markets.
CHINA
The BMI Agents Workshop China will take place in 2013 and is for institutions who want to build relationships with agents from China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Indonesia.
The workshop will host up to 80 agents from China and South East Asia who are interested in meeting education providers from around the world in a 2 day workshop and networking event.

The BMI InternationalEducation Agents Database
The BMI International Education Agents Database (IEAD) is the most comprehensive list of international education agencies. The database is constantly updated and the key features of IEAD are:
As Universities finally join the trend of recruiting students via education travel agents it seems that every institution is looking for “the right agent”. Agent workshops are a popular way of doing this but you can only meet a limited number of agents in two days, and invariably your competitors will also be participating in the workshop too.
Agencies also tend to have a much higher turnover of staff than most other businesses and often you may not know for months if your key contact has moved on.
The International Education Agents Database resolves all these issues and is invaluable for schools wishing to schedule meetings with agents while in-country, organize FAM trips or arrange mailings.
