AC Functions:TheACsystemallowsformonitoringoftheACvoltage,frequencyandcurrentlevels.Highandlowalarmscanbeconfiguredforeachofthese.
DC Functions:TheDCsystemmonitorsthevoltagelevelsonuptothreebatteries,aswellasthecurrentdrawonthebatteryonwhichstateofchargeisbeingmonitored.Highandlowlimitscanbesetforthevoltageoneachbattery.AhighcurrentalarmcanalsobesetonthebatterymonitoredforStateofCharge.
State of Charge (SOC):StateofChargegivesfeedbackonhow“full”thebatteryiswithusableenergy.Thesystemkeepstrackoftheamphours(Ah)remainingonthebattery,thechargecyclesonthebattery,andthetemperatureofthebattery.LowStateofChargeandhighbatterytemperaturealarmscanbeset.Withthelowstateofchargealarmset,theVSM422showsthetimeremaininguntilthealarmwillactivate,atboththecurrentpowerusageandattheaveragepowerusageforthelast20minutes.
Tank Functions:TheVSM422iscapableofmonitoringuptothreetanks.Thesystemhasanautocalibrationroutineforgeneratingatankshapeprofilefornon-rectangulartanks.Tankstatuscanberepresentedinbothcapacity(gallonsorliters)orasapercentageofcapacity.Anti-sloshroutinesarebuiltintoincreaseaccuracyofreadings.Bothhighandlowlevelalarmscanbesetforalltanks.
Bilge Functions:TheVSM422monitorsthecurrentrunstatusofthepump,thetimerunninginthelasthour,thecyclesinthelast24hours,andthetotalcyclessincethelastcyclereset.Highalarmscanbesetforboththeminutesofruntimeinthelasthour,aswellasthenumberofcyclesinthelast24hours.

MOUNTING CONSIDERATIONS
TheVesselSystemMonitorhasthreemountingmethods:surfacemount,flatpanelmount,and360panelmount.Whensurfacemountedusingthesuppliedgasket,anIP67waterproofratingiscreatedforthefrontoftheunit.Becausepanelmountingsystemsarenotwaterproof,theunitshouldnotbepanelmountedinanexposedlocation.Forallmountings,thebackoftheunitisnotwaterproofandmustbekeptdry.

DC VoltageVoltagelinestotheVSM422shouldbedirectlyconnectedtothepositivebatteryterminalwithadedicatedwireaheadofanyotherconnections.ThiswillensurecorrectvoltageandSOCmonitoring.Useanappropriatein-linefuse(5Asuggested)onthepositivewire.
AC CurrentInmostcasestheACCurrentTransformershouldbelocatedonthemainACfeedbeforeanyotherdevices.Seehttp://bluesea.com/viewresource/86formoreinformationonACCurrentTransformerlocation.Thelocationdoesnotaffectstateofcharge(SOC)calculations.
TheCurrentTransformerdoesnotindicatepolarity.IfACvoltageisappliedandcurrentshowsgreaterthanzerobutthepowerreadingiszerooranegativevalue,reversetheACCurrentTransformerleads.Theleadsshouldbetwistedtoreducetheeffectsofinterference.

Temperature SensorThebatterytemperaturesensorshouldbelocatedneartheStateofChargebattery.Itcanbemountedtoabatteryboxusingthehole,orcable-tiedtothenegativebatteryterminal.IMPORTANT! Do not fasten the Temperature Sensor directly to the battery in any way that may puncture or damage the battery.

TheVSM422willnotproduceaccuratereadingsifasecondgaugeisconnectedtothesametanksender.Installasenderforeachgaugeifyouwishtoreadatanklevelfrommorethanonelocation.
TheBlueSeaSystemsultrasonicsenderrequiresanexternalpowersource.Whenpowertothesenderislost,theVSM422willreadthetankasfull,andmaytriggerthetank’shighlevelalarm.
Foreachtankthesendermustbespecified,andtheshapeofthetanksetasrectangularorauto-calibratedbeforeaccuratereadingsaredisplayed.

Tank level readings change when electronics are turned on.

When using ultrasonic sensors, high level tank alarm sounds when power is turned off.

State of Charge (SOC) stays at 100% even when the batteries are being discharged.

WARRANTY
All Blue Sea Systems digital meters are warranted to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for three years from the date of first purchase.
“Date of first purchase” means:
