U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) visited the Blue Grass project and met with Kentucky Chemical Demilitarization Citizens’ Advisory Commission and Chemical Destruction Community Advisory Board members, the Eastern Kentucky University and Berea College presidents and other project stakeholders as part of his visit.

Construction now more than 72 percent complete
Systemization activities now more than 10 percent complete
Upcoming completion of enclosure for Supercritical Water Oxidation (SCWO) Processing Building (SPB)
Arrival, placement and continued installation of SCWO equipment within the SPB
Completion of refractory brick installation for Thermal Oxidizer units
Upcoming completion of construction on Hydrolysate Storage Area tanks and start of painting
Upcoming placement of Munitions Demilitarization Building filter area clean-air exhaust stacks
A team of project workers unload the supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) processing reactor skids and feed modules before smoothly moving them into place in the SCWO Processing Building using a high-tech remote-controlled jack turntable system.

Upcoming completion of Standby Diesel Generators factory acceptance testing
Control and Support Building (CSB) Facility Control System turned over to systemization personnel and energized
Systemization personnel begin partial occupancy of CSB Utility Building internal systems turned over to systemization

Moving Forward
Carpenters install a vapor lock barrier for the airlock between the Control and Support Building and the Munitions Demilitarization Building.
Sheet metal workers prepare the cascading ventilation system ducts on top of the Munitions Demilitarization Building (MDB) for connection to the (MDB) filter banks.
