Amelia Evans was awarded a recording contract as the result of winning the Generations in Jazz Vocal competition . Teaming up with her mentor, Melbourne Jazz legend Bob Sedergreen, they chose to record with prominent Melbourne musicians, bassist Gareth Hills and drummer Aaron McCullough.

The album entitled 'The First Song' was launched earlier this year to an enthralled and enthusiastic audience. Evans is a singer who understands the art of improvisation uses it together with her wonderful vocal range and texture to create her own artistic versions of standards, jazz tunes and contemporary popular songs are part of her palate. This CD relaunch will be even more intimate in the Lido’s small Jazz room.

Bob Sedergreen, Mal Sedergreen and Gordon Pendleton are members of the only blues band to emerge from the Jazz scene, Blues On The Boil., who appeared at major festivals in Australia and recorded the iconic album, Potent Brew.

As a jazz pianist Bob’s legendary status need no confirmation. He has performed with some of the world’s best jazz players. His empathy with Bridgette Allan stems from many years of collaboration and touring. From Brubeck to Broadway and back only Bridgette can deliver melody and lyrics in her own inimitable and hypnotic style.

For this show she will concentrate on the Jazz queens of Broadway. Bob has chosen to add some spice to the rhythm section by working with his longtime colleagues Gordon Pendleton on drums and Jon Chidgey on bass.

A great way to celebrate the upcoming holidays Some two decades ago a trio of Rosa – Horbelt – Sedergreen became the last bastion of live music in Carlton’s famous Lygon Street Strip. They played outside the restaurant Il Primo literally translated as The First One. And recorded a CD of the same title mixing contemporary jazz classics with show tunes.
