Managed File Transfer and the "Subservient Chicken"

he other day a friend at a biotech company asked me how Safe-T differed from other managed filetransfer solutions. While I talked a lot about flexibility and extensibility, I couldn't find a nice analogy...until now. And it's Burger King's Subservient Chicken.

Why? Because we deliver MFT the way you like it. Safe-T's Unified Platform architecture was designed from the get-go to be flexible

and extensible. This allows you to configure your Safe-T solution the way you like it, so it precisely fits the needs of your business.

So where do you want to locate your Safe-T server? Maybe inside your network where it's most secure? Or in your DMZ so no third-

parties can cross the firewall? We might have our preference, even a strong one, but at the end of the day the choice is yours. And you

want to use a reverse proxy? Sure, which one? Ours, Cisco's, Microsoft's or Juniper's? Again, it's your choice. MFT the way you like it.

While we might not have a configurable system parameter for each of the Subservient Chicken's 300 commands, we do have a lot of

them (sorry, we've never counted). Here's a partial list:

Where the Safe-T server sits on your network

The minimum size for attachments to be sent through Safe-T (actually you can send all attachments through Safe-T)

Whether you can send a "megamail" from Outlook, a Web interface or a Windows Explorer extension

Where attachments are stored on your network

Where incoming files from third-parties are stored on your network

Whether one-time passwords are optional or mandatory for downloading an attachment

Whether emails and/or attachments are encrypted

How many times a file can be downloaded

How long a link to a file is valid

How much bandwidth is allocated to Safe-T file transfers

Whether you get a delivery confirmation and or whether it's via email or SMS

How often Safe-T automatically cleans up stored files

What types of files can be transferred by individual employees or workgroups

And many, many, many more

Complementary to Safe-T's flexibility is its extensibility. Our Unified Platform architecture offers hooks and other mechanisms--

including an open API--for adding new capabilities to Safe-T without time-consuming or costly changes to the system. Benefits of

Safe-T's extensibility include:

Adding support for new or custom protocols within hours

Integrating with LDAP and Active Directory

Supporting a variety of proxy servers

Integrating with DLP solutions

Easily creating new tasks or triggers for automatic file transfers

Building your own file transfer user interface

Integrating Safe-T into corporate portals or Intranets

Easily integrating with your ERP and CRM solutions

Easily integrating with existing IT solutions whether home-grown or third-party

In other words, Safe-T is a hub for managed file transfer. It controls the file transfer, but let's you decide the rest... whether it's system

parameters, policies or integrating it with other tools and solutions that you've already got in place. Simply put, Safe-T delivers MFT as

you like it.
