Bob’s Rotary Africa Blog 59 ….. 08/03/08 President J K Lee and wife Young arrived in Livingstone from Lusaka accompanied by Ravi Devalia and his wife, Varsha . Met by local public dignataries and Livingstone Rotary Club President Kingsley Lilamono (pimary sponsor along with Newport-Irvine CA, USA) and District 9210 Governor Josh Chimhanda and his wife Rose Loma from Harare, Zimbabwe. They were escorted to the Zambezi Sun for dinner, Zambian Ngoni dancers and presentation of 29 Paul Harris Fellows at the Livingstone Rotary Club meetng . (see below) The next morning it was off to the Victoria Falls & then to the St. Joseph’s Hospice where President Lee was greeted by Livingstone Bishop Raymond Mpezele, St. Joseph’s Board Chairperson Dr. Jelta Chinyonga & Provincial minister, Daniel Munkombwe. Bob Selinger represented the Newport- Irvine Rotary co-sponsors. ZNBC national TV covered the event & it was broadcast on the 7 o’clock news. A tour of the hospice & ribbon cutting followed President Lee’s speech which emphasized. Rotary’s commitment to the children of the world & spotlighted the children’s ward of the hospice. He officially opened the facility by cutting the ceremonial ribbon & unveiling the Rotary plaque. After the ceremony they will fly to Johannesburg & to 2 conferences in Pretoria with African Rotarians on membership enhancement & child welfare world-wide. President Lee thanked the over 100 Rotarians, Clubs and Districts that contributed to the hospice. Therw will be an expanded Blog 60 in a few days with more pictures of the visit.
