Eminent Guest speakers were present to enlighten the participants on diverse themes. Various themes were 'Vedic Philosophy w.r.t. Education and Aspects of Human Development', 'Indian Philosophical Systems', 'Science and Spirituality', 'Dhyana as a Method in Education','Vaastu: Art and Science of Placement/ Living as applied to Educational Institutions','India's Cultural Contribution to the World', 'Scientific Aspect of Vedic Rituals and it's Significance to Human Life.'     Lohri celebration 13 Jan, 2017

    The festival Lohri was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm in the multipurpose hall of BLMCE. It is traditionally associated with the harvest of the rabi crops. The Students wore very beautiful traditional dresses on that day and performed a group dance depicted the culture of Punjab. These students were given til, groundnuts and rewri by the faculty members of the college. A speech on the relevance of Lohri Celebration was delivered by the students and message of oneness inspite of all obstacles was encouraged by them in their speech.

    An excursion was organised to Suraj Kund International Crafts Mela, Faridabad to acquaint the students with various national and international crafts, handlooms and cultural programmes of national and international proclaim. It is one of the world famous kind of annual Crafts Mela that showcases the richness of handicrafts, handlooms, culture and traditions of various parts of the world.It is held in the month of February every year.The theme of the mela, this year, was 'Johar Jharkhand.' There were stalls that were beautifully decorated belonging to different states.The traditional touch in the collection of exemplary handmade items and handlooms give the insight of culmination of different culture and traditions.The Students enjoyed the excursion. They interacted with the artisans and gathered significant and historic information about lesser known antique arts and crafts.

    Excursion to Suraj -Kund International Crafts Mela

    A three days workshop from Feb 28-Mar 2,2017, on ‘Heartfulness’ was conducted by Ram Chandra Mission in the multipurpose hall of BLMCE. The purpose of the workshop was to find the simple and practical way to experience the heart’s unlimited resources. During this workshop BLMCE family experienced ‘Sahaj- Marg Meditation’.

    On 29 March, 2017, a special lecture cum workshop was organized by BLMCE on ‘Creative Impulse of Education’ by Dr.Aarti Srivastava. She discussed about various techniques and delivered different ideas to incorporate art in various pedagogies. She also discussed how teaching aids can be made effective through art. She completed the session with activities laying stress on the creativity of the students.

    As a part of cultural exploration of our country,the college decided to celebrate the richness and diversity of cultures of different states. Each house decided to choose a state and celebrate the richness and vastness of it's cultural traditions and heritage. Throughout the week, they represented their states in different forms.

    Sachita House celebrated Cultural week with great zeal and enthusiasm. Students depicted the culture of Gujaratby organizing beautiful folk dances, quizzes, folk songs, ppts throughout the week. The state of Gujarat was shown depicting its mouth watering cuisine and fascinating handicrafts. The students were seen in beautiful Gujarati attire making the event colourful.

    The culture of West Bengal was very well portrayed by the Sanskriti House through Folk songs, poem recitation,folk dances, presentations group songs etc. A very well- known Sweet of West Bengal ‘Rosogulla’ was distributed among faculty members and students .

    Sabhyata House had shown the fantabulous presentation, depicting the culture of Jammu and Kashmir. PPTs, Quiz and folk dances performed by the students were outstanding. Distribution of Small Red and Green Apples among all the faculty members added the feel of Jammu and Kashmir.

    Special Assemblies

    Vasant Panchami Feb 1, 2017

    A special Assembly was conducted on Feb 1, 2017 to celebrate Vasant Panchami. On this day all the family members of BLMCE worshipped Goddess Saraswati- the goddess of knowledge, music and art. Students showed the mark of beginning of the spring season through presentation. The Principal of the college wished all the students to get enlighten with knowledge and to get rid of lethargy, sluggishness and ignorance.

    Taking place under the tagline ‘We can. I can.’ World Cancer day was observed by the students andfaculty of BLMCE. On this day a presentation was shown by the students focussed on exploring the collective efforts to reduce the global burden of cancer. To ignite the fighting spirit , a documentary film ,on the life of Manisha Koirala, a film actress was shown followed by a lively discussion. Closing remarks were given by the principal, BLMCE.

    World Wild Life day was observed on Mar 3, 2017 by conducting special assembly on conserving Wild Life. A speech on protecting World wild life was delivered and a documentary on conservation of wild life was shown. To explore the knowledge of the students on the wild life, a quiz was conducted by the students in which everybody participated enthusiastically.

    An International Women's Day was observed to celebrate women’s achievements throughout history and across nations.The students of BLMCE depicted the achievements of greatwomen through a presentation in the multipurpose hall.They showed that International Women's Day is a Global Day celebrating a social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

    Special Lectures

    A special lecture on 'Issues and Concerns faced by Teacher in Schools and Role of Counsellor and Counselling Process' by Dr Astha Sharma, a well known Clinical Psychologist from Impressions India, was organized on 28 March, 2017.She discussed about the challenges faced by the teachers while dealing with various problems and dilemmas of the children at different levels and how teachers can help as a facilitator and as a mentor at different levels.

    A special lecture on Sanskrit Algorithms was held on Mar 3, 2017.The speaker was Dr.Chandragupt Warnekar. He shared his vast knowledge of using Sanskrit algorithms. The main focus of the lecture was to prepare students for the competitive exams through Sanskrit Algorithms.

    On 3 April, 2017 a lecture was organised on ‘Drama and Art in Education’ by Dr. Bharti Dogra, an Associate Professor, IGNOU. She told the importance of Drama and Art in Education and how it can be used in teaching learning process to make it more interesting and joyful.

    A three days’ workshop by Pidilite was organised in the college campus where the students learnt different forms of art practiced in India. They learnt to make Madhubani Paintings, CD Rangoli, Tie and Dye, African Art Painting. The students learnt to make these forms and shown their interest in having such activities further in future.

    The skills that were shared and learnt were Origami for making of Geometrical shapes, making of Puppets, Stocking , Paper Flowers and Bags ,Clay Modelling and Warli Painting . The students were benefitted by theoretical knowledge and practical experiences of creativity on their own.

    Anugoonj (GGSIPU College Fest)

    Anugoonj is an annual cultural festival of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in which various colleges of this university participated in various cultural events like music, Group dance, nukkad -natak , painting , Rangoli making, elocution etc. This year too it was held on 28th -29th January with lot of fervour. The students from our college too participated for the first time in Folk Dance, Nukkad- Natak,Creative Writing in Hindi and English and Solo Song competition with great enthusiasm and their performance was appreciated by judges and audience.

    Academic Excellence Results of First Semester were declared and it was 100%. The students of BLMCE made up their mark and passed with flying colours. The result analysis is as under:

    With this aim, the college has signed an MOU for working with a Non Profitable Organisation, 4S Learning which is working for the deprived children and teachers in rural parts of India. It is an initiative of capacity building program taken up by the college and faculty members for in- service untrained teachers teaching in these schools. The faculty members along with the 4SL team discussed various themes and topics which can prove to be beneficial for the teachers who don't have any grounding in education and developed the content and resources for the teachers and for the children who do not get the privilege to get the exposure of the teaching and learning. Apart from this each faculty members presented presentations on the different topics followed by discussion under the guidance of the principal, Dr.Geetika Datta.
