I managed to crawl into bed at about 1 in the morning knowing that I had to get as much sleep as I could because we were off to Hemel Hempsted in the morning for our second show. When we arrived it didn’t help that I suddenly seemed to be missing my guitar pedal! After some frantic texts and calls around we managed to find out it was still in Bedford….which obviously wasn’t much help. So we played a slightly altered set at the Marquee Stage at Music on the Moor festival. This still went down well even though I personally was running low on energy pretty fast and the other 2 didn’t seem to be deal-ing with it all that much better.ing with it all that much better.

Again though the response was good and more cds went to people who had never seen us before which is always a good indicator we were doing things pretty right! Our set ran from about 2.30 until 3 with us due on stage at Parmstock in Watford at 4.25. So with two out of three down we packed up (yet again!) and headed off pretty much straight away.

As it happened Parmstock was a little behind so we had an hour or so to relax and watch some other band including the excellent This Part is Us, before our performance. I was still missing my pedal obviously but we didn’t let it effect us and played with as much energy and enthusiasm was left in us! Again the response was great and we got rid of even more merch.

Overall we couldn’t have asked for much better from the 3 shows we made plenty of new fans. You’ll also be pleased to hear I got my pedal back!

PETERS RAMBLES.............

Hi and welcome to the first instalHi and welcome to the first instal-ment of this new, regular column which will inform you about the music scene’s recent events. To get us started, this month, I am going to take a look at the first half of 2009. So much has happened re-cently, with bands coming and bands going, it has been a bit of a bumpy ride.

Just a few months ago we saw the break up of the pop-punk legends, Dead Mile, the sudden end was due to several band members decision to move on to other projects.

Starting with one of the BandStarting with one of the Band’s Gui-tarist, Ed Kelly, leaving to pursue his incredible solo-acoustic act, White walls for a blank mind, and shortly afterwards, Bassist, Nick Kontzle’s, metal band, Drowned by Oceans, turning out to be a huge success, it seems like Dead Mile success, it seems like Dead Mile won’t end on such a bad note.

Not only have we seen some prom-ising stuff, with an EP due to be re-leased on the 15th August and an album being recorded by White Walls, but the other members seem to have similar sights set.

Harry Waddington, Dead Mile’s other Guitarist, has joined a mind blowing Black Metal band, Mercy-giver, who are currently writing and sounding fantastic.

Over 150 bands and artists performed with amazing music and lots of young talented people in the Arena performing sports, dance music. The Volunteers such as Stewards, Green Team and presenters made you feel welcomed and comforted as they made everyone seem equal to them, mainly because everyone involved knows many people who were there.

People who wanted to see rising talent such as Flamboyant Bella and Exit Avenue were at the BBC Introducing stage, which was probably the most populated stage equal to the main stage. Probably the best Rhythms of the World so far.

Blinky......Blinky goes to Farmfest.....

So as you will have read we planned to kick off our festival programme with our first festival ever this month and we packed up and jumped into the car to Somer-set for Farm Fest.

We had grand plans, and were off to go a good start when we just about managed to fit everything into the car and were on the road, depiste traffic and delays we got there a little bit late. We were ready to get the stall set up and promoting the magazine, however the skies opened and the gazebo promised by the Farm Fest team was nowehere to be seen, nor could anyone find the elusive Organiser, so we settled in for a long wait for him to appear, so chekc out the stage and bands, not exactly glastonbury but the music was good and for a little while the sun was shining!shining!

Sadly Jenny and Toni started to feel a bit attack on ninja flu and after more than 24 hours without the organiser going on site we decided a cuppa tea in my front room at home was definitely in order, so we packed up and had to come home :(

Not exactly the festival experience we had in mind but apparently I'm damn good at playing Bullshit!

Lets hope we get a better run of festivals in the future!
