A Luxurious Affair @ Rajvilas, Jaipur[Access: 260 Kms / 5.5 Hrs Drive from Delhi]

Get married at Jaipurs most renowned luxury property – The Oberoi Rajvilas.

On the day of the ceremony, the Bride will receive a traditional Indian bridal ritual known as ‘Solah Shringar’ – a beauty treatment that includes a Honey oatmeal scrub, a Turmeric skin purifying body wrap and one-hour Ayurvedic massage followed by a Rose bath. Henna is then applied to the hands and, thereafter, bridal make-up and any hair

styling that is required.

A flower dressed horse-drawn carriage for the Bride to arrive at the entrance bridge to the Temple. This is followed by the blessing ceremony with the Pundit (Priest) - the 300 year old Shiva Temple is decorated festively with traditional flowers. Nestling on a small island amidst verdant greenery and redolent with the fragrance of exotic water lilies, the Temple is located in the center of the resort and is connected to the rest of the hotel by a stone bridge.

Highlights of a Royal Indian Wedding

Mehndi Ceremony (Application of henna on the hands and feet of the bride)

Mehndi ceremony is an important Indian wedding tradition - no wedding is complete without painting the bride's hands and feet with beautifully designed henna tattoos.

Mehndi (henna) is applied on front and back of hands right up to the elbow, and below the knees down to the feet. Mehndi is considered to be a symbolic blessing, bestowal of which permits the new bride to beautify herself for the groom. The ceremony is often accompanied with some guests getting henna tattoos on their hands and feet as well, singing, dancing and enjoying some good food and drinks.

Getting Ready An Indian wedding ceremony is a fully dressed up event. Bride and Groom are dressed in proper Indian wear. Bridal dresses are usually in tones of red, pink or orange, whilst the groom is often in white or golden coloured outfit. Amongst guests, men usually tie ‘Safa’ or ‘Pagdi’ (traditional Indian headgear made from long colourful scarves) and ladies have the option to go with a full Indian outfit or remain more western with a touch of India in the form of an Indian ‘dupatta’ i.e colourful scarve.







Baraat (arrival procession by the groom’s family)The grooms family forms a Royal procession. The procession comprises of Dhol / Nagada (traditional drums used for all the auspicious occasions). Guests follow a magnificently decorated horse (option of a car or elephant also available) ridden by the groom, while men line up the entire length of the procession route with lights in their hands.

Girls dressed in Rajasthani attires sprinkle rose petals and attar (rose water) welcome the procession at the entrance of the venue where the bride awaits the groom with her family & friends.

Varmala (Exchanging of Fresh Flower Garlands) The couple exchange fresh flower garlands as a sign of coming together and connecting their future.

Pheras (Exchanging of vows around the sacred fire)After Varmala the couple will go to the Mandap (gazebo) especially decorated with flowers for the auspicious and most important ceremony in Hindu Wedding called ‘Pheras’ in which the couple will take 7 Rounds of the scared fire and will take wedding vows to make the ceremony complete
