All God’s critters are invited to be blessed at this special service. If your critter is shy (or too large to be inside) you can also bring
a photograph for some distance blessing!
“They Are Us” This is the title of a book written by Bishop Stephen Bouman and
Rolstan Deffenbaugh. It reminds me that the Lutheran Church was
transplanted here by Northern Europeans, (you know who you
are ) coming to America. There was a time when German
Lutherans did not talk to Norwegian Lutherans. People from all
different contexts are still coming to be church in new and exciting
ways and want to talk to each other.
Trinity is not an isolated island in Gresham; there is lots of life and
love and energy here as well. And, as a way to continue that
growth, your church council is courageously looking at the world
around us and seeing some friendly faces ready to have
conversation. The episcopal community of Holy Cross Santa Cruz,
a Latino congregation, is looking for a community to be connected
with, not simply for the use of space, but to engage in relationships
with. The church council opened the door to this possibility and is

Join us TODAY (SUNDAY) for a
Special Breakfast Event!
The Women of the ELCA of Trinity are raising funds to purchase a “Family Farm” for a family living in one of the 83 countries supported by ELCA World Hunger.
Talk about transformation! A cow, a couple of goats, a dozen chickens, two pigs, farming tools,
seeds, and agricultural training and support, for example, can help a family achieve a fresh start. With new tools and techniques, crops will grow stronger than ever. Eggs, milk, and meat from the farm animals provide a lifetime of food to eat and sell on the market, helping a family escape the cycle of hunger and poverty.
Our goal is to raise $715 to make this purchase through the ELCA Good Gifts. Gifts like this support the sustainable programs of the ELCA World Hunger.
Please come to enjoy the breakfast after worship service on Sunday, October 6. A free will offering is requested to support purchasing the “Family Farm.” Thank you!
in a conversation about what this might look
like for both our communities. Myself and
their pastor, Father Roberto Maldanado,
have also been having conversations about
possibilities.
There is a growing sense of excitement over
what this could mean for both our
communities.
To broaden the conversation to include all of
you, we will have a special gathering on
November 10, following Sunday worship,
where we will make sure everyone is on the
same page about where we are right now and
conversation about where we could go in the
future. To help with this conversation,
Manuel Borbon, the Oregon Synod’s
Mid-Willamette Valley Latino Ministry
leader, will join us to share what other
congregations in the Synod have been doing
and how Trinity can join this energizing
work.
The Oregon Synod, like the larger church, is
made up of many different cultures and
contexts: there are communities of Native
Americans, Chinese, Taiwanese, Latinos and
more! All these different perspectives make
us stronger in our call from Christ to love
our brothers and sisters, no matter who they
might be.
Let’s see how we can be a part of the
amazing work of creating the Dominion of
God!

Second Annual Wine Raffle – with a twist!!
This weekend the Stewardship Committee will begin selling tickets for our 2nd Annual Wine Raffle. Tickets will again be $20 each. 1st place is 18 bottles of wine; then 6 bottles each additional winner until the bottles run out. But, wait, there’s more! In addition to the wine raffle, a silent auction will be held online for a variety of gift baskets. Greg Hamilton has generously agreed to provide an “artsy” basket made up of some of his very own glass art! There will also be gift baskets of tea and coffee. These could be great gifts for those who love coffee or tea! This online auction is online now and will go until November 2 at 11 pm. To participate, go to our website (tlcgresham.com) and click the link to the auction website. A couple of additional baskets will be raffled on the day of the wine raffle; tickets for this raffle will be sold the day of. So mark your calendar for November 3, following worship, for the raffle drawings and the announcement of the winners of the silent auction items. ALL PROCEEDS will go towards the Roof/Kitchen Fund. Please help us make this fundraising event a success! Thank YOU!

You are invited to The Living Table! We are a community that meets every Wednesday to share a meal, join in prayer, and participate in activities that enrich
our lives. The evening is a contemporary expression of worship, for
everyone to participate in as they choose. When we gather at the table, it can be for whatever you need: communing, dining,
conversing, or resting your head. We empower our community to share ideas so we can
collaborate in the process of trying and experimenting. Even in our failures, we know the process will enrich our lives.
We invite you to learn more about this community by joining us on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm.
