MEDITATION
MEDITACI N
“Vete y no vuelvas a pecar”.
¡Que Dios nos perdone Siempre!
The challenge of forgiveness To forgive is to brake the vicious cycles of death by a fresh act of u er generosity. Forgiveness is not playac ng, not ro-man c religion, not casual hugs. It is a decision to begin at a different place. With out forgiveness, the world works its way to death and destruc veness, genera on. Unforgiveness leads to death, both for the vic m and for the perpetrator. The news is not just that God forgives, but that God has created a people to have as its main, single business in the world the forgiveness of sins.
Keys to Spiritual Growth All spiritual growth comes from reading and reflec on. By reading we learn what we did not know by reflec on we retain what we learned. Reading the Holy Scriptures confers two benefits. It trains the mind to understand them; it turns our a en on from follies of the world and leads us to the love of God. If we want to be always in God’s company, we must pray regularly and read regularly. When we pray, we talk to God; when we read, God talks to us. Jesus shows great mercy, and at the same me, he does not ignore the reality of sin. Some mes when we reflect on the passage, we lose sight of the last words. We can focus so much on the mercy that we miss the call to conversion: “from now on do not sin anymore.” The woman is needed “absolved,” to use a word common to us, but she is also called to conversion. We are too. Especially in these final days of Lent, we are invited to turn away defini vely from sin. When we reflect on the death of Jesus, whether reading the account of Passion or praying the Sta-
on of the Cross, it becomes clear that Jesus died because of our sins.
How has my lack of forgiveness kept me from being a be er Chris an?
God forgive our Sins!
