Step 1In order to add a texture to an image the first step is to place the texture layer over the image. Letsopen the image landscape. This is our base image on which we will apply textures.

Step 2Now open the desired texture image in our case texture!. "elect all by pressing #trl $ % and copyby pressing #trl $ #. &o bac' to our initial image and paste by pressing #trl $ (.

Now resi)e the texture in order to cover all the image. *ress #trl $ T to enter +ree Transform andresi)e the texture.

#hange the blending mode of the texture layer to ,ultiply and there you have it your first texturedimage-

It loo's a bit dar' so lets lower the opacity to !/.

Step 4

It loo's interesting but a bit faded. Lets try some interesting blending modes. #hange the texturelayer blending mode to "oft Light 0"oft Light is a wea'er version of 1verlay2 and boost the 1pacity

all the way to !33/. "ee how the contrast is higher and the colors are richer.

Step 5

Lets try some other textures. Turn off the visibility of the texture! layer for now by clic'ing on thelittle eye icon next to the layer thumbnail.

*lace texture4 in our file by following the instructions from step 4. Notice how this is a richertexture with dar'er tones.

Lets try another interesting blending mode 5 "creen. #hange the blending mode of the texture4layer to "creen and lower the 1pacity to 67/. Now the image loo's worn out and old.

%nother interesting thing to do is to invert the texture. *ress #trl $ I and notice how the texturechanges.

Step !Lets try yet another texture. Turn off the visibility of the texture4 layer and place the texture6layer as explained in step 4.

Step #Lets try some more blending modes. #hange the texture6 blending mode to =ard ,ix. This is avery strong blending mode that boosts the color to extreme. Lower the +ill value to >7/. ?ou canalso try every other blending mode and see how it loo's li'e. If you feel courageous you can turn onthe visibility of all the layers and play with their 1pacity values and blending modes.

Step 1$%s a little bonus I will show you how to add texture to an image using the image itself. Turn off thevisibility of all the texture layers and clic' on the :ac'ground layer in order to ma'e it active. *ress#trl $ @ to duplicate the layer.

#lic' on the @uplicate layer and enter +ree Transform 0#trl $ T2. AightBclic' somewhere on theimage and from the dropdown menu choose +lip =ori)ontally. *ress Cnter when youre done.

Now change the blending mode of the @uplicate layer to 1verlay. =mmm interesting effect withthe symmetry and all but its obvious that the image was flipped hori)ontally. Thats true but we will

address that issue in the next step.

Step 12%dd a layer mas' to the @uplicate layer by choosing Layer D Layer ,as' D Aeveal %ll.

#lic' on the layer mas' in order to ma'e it active and go to +ilter D Aender D #louds. =ey loo' atthat- The image doesnt loo' so symmetrical now- ?ou can further hide portions of the @uplicatetexture by painting with a blac' brush in the layer mas'.
