• Town Population: 2013 – 21,492• Sedalia is a city located about 30 miles south
of the Missouri River at the intersection of U.S. Routes 50 and 65 in Pettis County, Missouri.

HOMELESS POPULATION
• In 2005/2006 – One District paid social worker– Tried to identify among 4,000 + students
(Around 200 identified)• First Homeless Grant – wrote for 2 social workers– Total of three social worker (one each level)– Services were still minimal– Limited identification (378 - identified)
• 2008/2009 – 4,400 students (9 buildings at that time)
– Saw a need for more social workers• Became a priority
How to Increase Social Workers
Year One (2009/2010)• Determined the need during a time of financial
cuts in District (595 identified)
• Wrote Homeless Grant to include another social worker positions – (Four for the District)
Year Two (2010/2011) – (846 - identified)
• Included Social Worker position from Title I set aside that is to be used for McKinney-Vento (Five for the District)

• Developed a plan to use other Title Programs• Made another position by using Title IC and Title
III for part of funding – time logs (Six for the District) (825 – identified)
