Overview
• How do we collect the data? The vast majority of outage reports are picked up through media reports. Google Alerts is monitored daily and entered into a database that feeds the tracker. We also get outage reports submitted through the tracker
• Do we catch every outage? No. We catch the main ones but not every outage is reported. For example, many outages happen within private buildings/institutions that don’t report them.
• Purpose of the tracker? It’s to bring attention to the often unpredictable causes and timing of power outages.
• Do we make data available? Yes, we can provide it in Microsoft Excel format.
