Black CAT Outstation PlatformThe next generation in traffic monitoring

The Black CAT is an intelligent traffic counter combining all of

the functionality of CA Traffic’s traditional counter classifiers in

to a flexible, modular design with vastly improved specification

and functionality. Our in-house developers have combined

years or experience to bring to the market a counter with added

value, that meets the advanced needs of today’s market whilst

considering tomorrow’s technology.

The Outstation has the ability to conduct multiple survey

types simultaneously, manage and prevent loss of data more

effectively and with the Catalyst In-station software package the

Black CATs can distribute data to multiple in-stations and users,

as well as offering the user advanced fault reporting capabilities.

This sophisticated counter is an ITS and Transport Planning

solution, with the added value of optional Bluetooth Journey

Time technology, Single Loop Classification and

Weigh-In-Motion. Designed to work alongside

existing networks of CA Traffic Counters and

Classifiers, and VDA Pro R2, or Drakewell’s C2

database. With additional software the

Black CAT will distribute real- time data to

UTMC systems.

Alternative power supply includes Battery/Solar and mains supply

Various communications options including GSM, GPRS and Ethernet.

Multiple sensor types supported, including: Inductive Loop (including single loop classification) Piezo electric sensor (Axle detection and Weigh-in-motion) Kistler WIM sensors Switch I/O, allowing external sensor types to be interfaced Bluetooth Card

Various report types including: Historical Binned and Historical VBV Real-time Statistics and Real-time VBV

Built-In Algorithms including: HiOCC Speed Threshold Flow Threshold

Flexible class schemes and a ‘Class builder’ application allowing users to define there own class scheme if required

The Black CAT is offered in three size options, Compact, Midi and Rack, the options reflecting differing client requirements.

The range allows for:

Black CAT-Compact 3 sensor card positions which can be populated with any combination of 8 channel Inductive loop cards, 8 channel Piezo (axle) cards or Bluetooth card. Communications options are GSM and GPRS Power can be provided by battery or a combination of battery and solar panel.

Black CAT-Midi 3 sensor card positions as above with the addition of the option for a switch I/O card for connecting to other devices such as ANPR cameras. Communications options are GSM, GPRS, and Ethernet. Power would be provided by permanent mains power connection.

Black CAT-Rack Total of 8 sensor card positions which can be populated with any combination of loop cards, piezo cards, Bluetooth card and Switch I/O card (max 4 cards of any one type). Communications options are GSM, GPRS and Ethernet. Power would be provided by permanent mains power connection.
